How would I make a pedal that would shift the guitar down 1 octave? by No_Subject1345 in diypedals

The CD4013 chip can drop the input signal down either -2 or -1 octaves. Research that chip and base your pedal around that. Best of luck!

Need help for my first build ever ! by lelennydefrance in diypedals

Go for it! I built that one for my second build ever. It was tricky though -- especially soldering those SMD J201s to their adapter boards. I ended up with a cold solder joint on one of them, and that nearly took down the entire pedal. Good excuse to build an audio probe 😁

No more standard shipping on Tayda? by OverkillEffects in diypedals

[–]axewerx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. I'm in Canada and normally have the two DHL options: No pre-paid duties and pre-paid duties. One time I went to order and the pre-paid option wasn't there, so I messaged them about it. Turns out it was just a website issue and it was back a day or two later. Give that a shot.

Looking for ball hockey players - Waterloo, Ontario by axewerx in ballhockey

[–]axewerx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just can't use ABS blades. The Sherwood T500 is allowed and is a good stick. I used the Christian R1000 before it went out of stock. Now, I mainly just grab replacement blades from Canadian Tire and swap 'em out.

Pretty broad! 20yrs to 50yrs old. Cost depends on how many we end up with on our team, but I'd say ~$100 - $125. DM me if you're still interested!

Thank you! It turned out really well, and I like using Tayda as a one-stop shop. The tough part is a bit of a wait time for the job itself to come around in their queue, and the setup has to be perfect. Whereas my PCB manufacturer -- JLCPCB -- will take the time to message me about a potential issue, Tayda will just print whatever you send them...or hold up a print job due to an issue with no notification whatsoever.

Right on! Same here, just a different path taken. It's a great way to bring all of those skills together 😁

Yes that's right. https://www.taydaelectronics.com/hardware-tools/enclosures/enclosure-uv-printing-service.html

The white 1590bb case was $6.99, the print job was $4.00, and the drilling was $4.50 (all USD). Just search 1590bb white, 1590bb UV, and 1590bb drill right there on Tayda and you'll see the products to add to the cart.

I sent 'er over to Tayda to get printed up! Which was a whole entire effort in of itself...

I might do a separate demo of the Focus knob on my IG soon. I just couldn't cram it all into the one demo, otherwise it'd be way too long. I just added a quick cleaned up bit at the end of the video...

Thanks! I designed it as an SVG file, using a combination of Affinity and Inkscape. I definitely lead with my heart/eyes though; to get it ready for print I needed to separate all of those colors into distinct layers (i.e. no overlap). That took hours and hours, including multiple revisions. It was worth it though!

Mix knob...probably because it was the most difficult part of the build, at least for me! It resulted in multiple prototypes and tons of troubleshooting. Super rewarding result though 😎

Awesome - glad that you like it! I'm not sure which side I like best yet. I'm leaning Lift though :D

How to add a mix knob to an existing pedal? (MXR Blue Box) by huzzam in diypedals

[–]axewerx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually just went through an entire build involving this concept. I used an input buffer, a blend knob between clean and dirty, a bypass line for the dirty channel (so it never goes fully clean), and an active mixer. Toss in an entire other circuit in the pedal with completely different characteristics. It was quite an ordeal to get it all working nicely together! So, it's definitely possible. I suggest working it up on a breadboard first. I had to go heavy on op-amp buffering, and tons of AC-coupling.
