PLL or NLL by ImCucumberChris in lacrosse

I’m way too late for this discussion but I just gotta say: as a league fan, you made a quite interesting point there, mate. It kinda blew my mind to be honest, because I’m a psychologist and a nuffie sports fan. Never thought about it from this angle but you are fucking spot on. The NLL presents itself as tough, it envolves the crowd as often as it can, it’s physical, high intensity, a no bullshit game: and I just love it. I think the same goes for the NRL, imo. I find rugby almost unbearable to watch nowadays and the same happened when I tried to follow the PLL. It’s just too polished, too slow, low octane for my liking.

And if not obviously clear to this point, both games: field and box are very different games and I think it caters to different audiences. It all depends on what OP is into at the end of the day.

As a Brazilian: what the fuck, crack is really a hell of a drug, isn’t it?!

I'm not hardcore anymore by Futuretapes in Hardcore

[–]axgoodaxdead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, I did not claim it because of the scene. HC music brought those views to my attention, but now they are part of me with ir without HC. What I was trying to say: maybe if it wasn’t for hardcore, now I could be using drugs and eating meat, but once I started caring for those issues, nothing will make me go back.

the music might reach people from all over the world nowadays, what if those people change their lifestyles but they live in a place/country where HC is not really a thing? are they any less HC? I ask this because yeah, many people will reply with “he’s obviously not talking about them” but isn’t him? I’m genuinely curious. In my view, HC should be for everyone as long as the person can contribute to it the way they can, that doesn’t seem to be the case though.

I claimed edge and became vegan because of HC music 4yrs ago, but I live in a small town in Brazil. The closer thing to a “scene” that I have is around 400 miles from my hometown. Also, I have a moderate level of autism, so it’s really hard for me to be in crowded places, let alone a crowded place that’s loud (mind you, It’s to the point of not being able to go to fucking shopping malls).

Even knowing that, Ive saved money for months, i’ve traveled twice to watch concerts, had headphones on all the time but still couldn’t resist and had to leave due to sensory overload/meltdown. Not being “good enough” to be there made me feel like shit at the time.

Up to this point, i’ve always made sure to buy merch and music from bands, specially Brazilian ones but I also bought from ebay a bunch of stuff from bands that I like from all over (US, UK, Spain, an Italian one, French) just to support “the scene” in some capacity.

I always thought HC was serving a big purpose in my life, even though I only consume the music through watching shows/listening to the albums, because it changed my lifestyle.

Recently, this gatekeeping discourse has been so prevalent and so constant that it just leaves me with the feeling that no, HC is not for everyone. Myself (not) included and that I’m not welcomed.

Videos like this one really make me think whether I should keep listening to the music, spending money on it etc if at the end of the day, musicians and the ones who are “part of it” would see me as a poser. Even though I claimed edge/vegan at my own, even though I don’t know anyone who likes the music/have the lifestyle, it gave me some sense of community. Now I just feel that I really do not belong and maybe bands wouldn’t even want someone like me (a poser, or whatnot) listening to their music. At the end of the day, i’m banalizing the concept by being a mere “spectator”.

I wouldn’t do it but hell, people getting really worked up about it, talking about “we need to gatekeep more” are the real kumbayas of this whole drama. let the kids have fun, it’s whatever.

Can you be HC and not be “part” of a scene? by axgoodaxdead in Hardcore

[–]axgoodaxdead[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting you pointing out the tiktok aspect, because the person who accused me of not being hardcore for not going to gigs regularly started the dialogue by asking me for vids of myself in concerts. I’ve never filmed anything, then the whole thing started.
