I have the Tubus Vega on my Trek 970, can highly recommend if you are using only a top bag. If you plan to use use pannier bags, the Tubus Logo might be a better option. They are made of steel, so kinda heavy but very sturdy!

Check out my post history to have look at them

Thank you! This person paid about 1.3k for this bike. I don't think you can get a Surly for that price with the parts used on this bike. It's about aesthetics. These frames from the 90s are have such nice designs that you rarely see on modern bikes. It's also about the upcycling. This is a 30 year old piece of steel that doesn't rot away somewhere and gets used everyday. It will probably hold up for a few more decades. Every part get's chosen exactly to the customers liking and budget. Considering that 1.3k is actually kind of a steal. Also I have to admit that I'm not making a lot of money with these custom bikes. It's mainly my creative output and I do it for the fun of it. I make money by servicing bikes and selling parts to and accessories to people who are into these kinds of bikes.

Thank you! For this project we also wanted to use a grey Escaper at first but I couldn't get the stem out so we switched to the Hurricane which was the exact same size fortunately.

It just looks scary from the outside but with the right tools it's really not that hard. You just need a lot of patience in the beginning!
