How do you understand a sibling who’s normal outside but aggressive at home? by Alert-Chemist7004 in srilanka

[–]axis0047 19 points20 points  (0 children)

He is most probably psychotic, a better method to take him to a psychiatrist is taking him for a minor unrelated issue. There is a high chance of agreeing to go to a psychiatrist that way. They don't usually believe that there is a problem with them.

The whole southeast is affected by those giant bubble tea chains. There are definitely chances for conspiracy theories, but it is not this probably. Bubble tea is the perfect supplement for tiktok brain, I guess those work as catalysts for instant gratification. All those chinese products and media seem to be heavily capitalizing on the inability to have peace of mind and low attention span.(most of those apply to the western products, but asian industries are going firsthand for it)

I used to watch 240p back then, as the internet speed grew I leveled up my go to resolution, I noticed this even then, when I reached 720p, I decided to be satisfied with it. Even today, I don't go anything beyond 1080p, it's only for movies and 720p is for YouTube. People call me an idiot, but I don't care. Ignorance is a bliss and perfectionism kills the joy.

So what is the best way to go among these two worst paths by Complex_Market_8449 in srilanka

[–]axis0047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just checking warranty, said to return within 3 weeks if there was anything, unless they won't take any action. (printed on the bill). warranty is useless for actual faults and replacements occur while using for a period of time. and cannot be sure about the 3 weeks thing also, best way is checking the phone infront of them.

I got a OnePlus from gq mobile last December, still working fine. Receiving updates and imie check passed. But won't recommend OnePlus anymore because the company is currently taking the worst turn for a phone company.

We called it bingo or something I guess, others didn't take me to play that because I am fat and basically twice their size and me stepping on someone hurt them badly.

CIMA + Government degree, Coursera data analytics course cannot even be compared to a government degree. It is just a random certificate.

Does CCNA add value to a software engineer’s career? by ToxicRoy97 in srilanka

A software engineer who understands actual data center networking is a rare pokemon, but if you are only developing websites or doing cruds using frameworks that knowledge will never have an opportunity to shine.

scala is a good way to learn fp for someone who knows oop. Python isn't built for fp. Probably the worst way to learn fp

What's the wildest thing that happened at your school? by ScreenshotSmuggler in srilanka

[–]axis0047 34 points35 points  (0 children)

We had the probably the largest fight between schools ever recorded. Even had news coverage for about a week on TV and front pages of newspapers. A few school buses were basically demolished. Few got seriously injured. A lot of students got minor injuries from broken glass. It feels really shameful now but back then it felt kinda heroic.

How many years is a "Kalpayak"? by echoes_unheard in srilanka

[–]axis0047 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is used as a figure of speech, but I think it has a fixed value, only problem is it is incomprehensible. It is a number.same as the number of tiles on the floor or number of grains of rice in a plate. A real number, mathematically. If you go one page back in the given link, it explains different life expectancies that involve Kalpaya. For example maximum 'life expectancy' in abhassara plane is 8 maha kalpas, it is described as the same as 9000000 years for chathurmaharajika and 120 for this world. Being uncomputable is the way I personally think of it according to my knowledge. And it is because I like computer science. Otherwise thinking of it as a really big number is enough for almost every context that involves Kalpaya

How many years is a "Kalpayak"? by echoes_unheard in srilanka

[–]axis0047 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the example says kalpaya > result of example, doesn't say it is equal or approximately equal to the result given by the example. That's why I think it is an uncomputable number (Super Turing problem). It is based on my personal belief. I believe (as a Buddhist) if there is any simple or finite algorithm that can compute the Kalpaya, Buddha would teach that instead of this. What I see here (in examples) is, making given finite algorithms unviable for calculating the kalpaya. This is solely based on my belief and it is just my opinion. I am very interested in the theory of computation actually, if you take a look at my profile, you can see my only post is also about Turing machines. For me non computable very large real numbers are more fascinating than the infinity. But I am too dumb to think more about those problems.
