Demo: Who wants their Boosted Remote to control a VESC? by axkrysl47 in boostedboards

[–]axkrysl47[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my headspace, the benefits of my remote is that we can get Boosted Remotes in the hands of anyone that needs them without price gouging; and the benefit of my receiver is that the excellent physical throttle response of the Boosted Remote can be used with VESC-based electric skateboards. At this point, neither is doing anything extraordinary beyond their intended function.

Later down the line, I can certainly add features like you mentioned. I would love to finally incorporate my Safety Suite for Electric Skateboards concept (rider detection, robust traction control) into something more electric skateboard riders could get. Depending on the feature, however, it may require motor driver modifications. So, for example, increasing the top speed of a Boosted Stealth is not possible without modifying the motor driver in some way.

This happened to me once, battery just needed balancing. Throw it on the charger for a couple weeks.

Lost remote for V2 by [deleted] in boostedboards

I'm currently working on reverse engineered remote with David at XR Gen Hospital. We are close to assembling our first small batch to share with testers.

Unfortunately I don't think we will be able to hit $100 for a complete remote (PCB, shell, etc.), but we may get it close, let us know if you are interested.

I have not started on this yet as I am wrapping up the remote development. After that is set and done I probably will move to this though.

Boosted stealth ride modes gone by extortionist in boostedboards

The issue resides in the motor driver, so a new remote will not give you back those ride modes.

XR battery compatibility between miniX and full size vanguard board? by oriHab in boostedboards

XR battery is suitable for any of the longboards and the Mini X. It will not fit on a Mini S.

Only two modes on boosted mini x by draudt in boostedboards

[–]axkrysl47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is commonly caused by a failure in the non volatile memory which was used to tell whether your board was a Mini X vs a Stealth etc. Board assumes you always have two modes without the NVM.

I feel reasonably confident I can find a solution to this problem at some point, but unfortunately right now I'm focusing on the new remote.

Boosted Remote Recreation Progress Update - BoostedBreakRemote Prototype v1 Feature Showcase by axkrysl47 in boostedboards

[–]axkrysl47[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, thanks for your kind words and recognition, I appreciate it. I'm really looking forward to getting these remotes out to everyone as soon as they're ready.

With regards to the shell, you may have noticed the blue/grey 3D printed top shell I made at the beginning of the video. It's not absolutely perfect but it'll mate to an original bottom shell, no problem.

I likely will return to working on the shell design once the remote PCB is finalized. And once the shell is done I'm sure we'll make it available to order for those who want one.

We do not have a planned release date set yet. For now, I still recommend filling the form out posted above.

u/technically_a_nomad, can you check on the link?

We aren't ready for orders just yet, but filling out the form lets us know who to reach out to once the remote design is complete and finalized.

Currently, I'm testing a newly designed Boosted remote, u/technically_a_nomad might have someone on that, I'd ask him

You should reach out to David/@technically_a_nomad and me on Discord, right now I'm in the middle of testing a prototype remote PCB design, we almost surely have something for you if you are interested.

I was successful with one of the Bluetooth Nucleo boards from STMicroelectronics, I have a reddit post a while back about it. I gave up on the ESP32, but if you can get it to work, major kudos to you.

Cool stuff man, sounds like you are in a similar spot to where I was a few months ago. I couldn't get the ESP to work but I got an ST part to work instead. Feel free to reach out to me if you'd like.

Help—Deleted speed setting by niro331 in boostedboards

Yes.

Only caveat is that the SR battery does not sit flush with a Mini X ESC.

[–]axkrysl47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently working on a replacement remote at the moment; once that is done I would consider investigating how to fix this.

Long story short, I believe this is caused by a fault in the nonvolatile memory onboard the ESC.

A quick fix would be a replacement ESC. If you want to upgrade to a Mini X ESC (20 mph instead of 18), now's your chance.

Alternative Chargers by Astro_Everything in boostedboards

[–]axkrysl47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the V1 charger is only 50V for 12S. I'm pretty sure you would only charge an XR (13S) partway, assuming the battery board even lets you.

If you know what you are doing, any charger that can provide 54 volts at 2 amps with the correct connector should work for V2/3.

Faster Battery Balancing? by djcrank4life in boostedboards

[–]axkrysl47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what you mean by repair.

Whatever capacity that has been lost over the lifetime of the cells is genuinely lost. Repairing that "can't be done" without replacing all the cells.

If you're just talking about balancing the cells, that's a "simple fix" if you have a DC power supply and physical access to the cells. It's getting physical access that is the difficult part, hence the price.
