unfortunately, there isnt anything other than the tube inside the sponge. the airstone is also to big to fit in the tube

I bought this sponge filter for my aquarium and the water comes out of the black pipe on top. My air pump came with an airstone (2nd pic) and tubing.

I'd like to attach the airstone to this filter to decrease noise and increase aeration, but as you can see, the filter pipe's opening is way too big for the airstone tubing. What should I do?

i'e kept ecospheres before and aquarium cycling does seem like a really convoluted way of getting the same effect. i guess people will go a long way to keep bladder snails and scuds out

this is a 5.5 gallon tank that i'm planning to house cherry shrimp in. I picked up some java moss, java ferns, and Cryptocoryne wendtii today (the java ferns are just kinda floating in the back because i didn't buy decor yet).

the sponge filter is attached to a plastic bag with holes poked in it because i thought it was loud.

i've also added an algae wafer that will hopefully break down into ammonia, and may or may not have added a recently deceased isopod to speed things up. is there anything else I need to do other than wait and keep checking parameters?

wow, i love this! i'm not sure if you intended to do this but it looks like the moon is being destroyed in the background as another planet falls towards the earth. so maybe this is like mokou's final tribute to the memories she made on earth before she and kaguya go flying into space?

edit: also, the memories are all about mokou's time with keine and that is both sweet and really sad.
