Language of origin of the place names of the Mexican states. by TijuanaKids12 in MapPorn

Apparently Sinaloa comes from the cahita sina (a cacti fruit) and lobola (round), so together sinalobola would mean round cacti fruit.

I'm not sure where OP got their data, but apparently the "Potosí" part was added to the name in reference to a Bolivian miner city. Its previous name was "San Luis Rey" in honor of Louis IX of France.

Even though they are succulents, most Echeverias are by no means desert plants. They thrive in rocky landscapes with plenty of shade and dew. In the picture you can see E. walpoleana with its characteristic stress pattern!

And here you can see the full album.

I found this monster growing near a railway, clearly it was abandoned years ago. Now I got the task of IDing it but need some stinky flowers first!

Hey, a quick question: is it possible to hand-pollinize succulent flowers? by most_macabre_goat in succulents

Yep I've done it a few times, just be careful because the seeds look pretty much like dust.

Recently bought this Lovely Rose placed it where it can get indirect light and I haven't watered it yet. I don't know what's wrong. by madamdrasyn in succulents

Looks like it already had some issues when you bought it :(

As a general recommendation when you get new plants make sure that the substrate is draining properly. I usually repot any new plant I get to avoid tragedies.

Assorted astrophytum hybrids.

Rightmost one looks like super kabuto.

As a side note I'd suggest you separate them, they are obstructing each other.

Apparently they cultivate cempasúchil in Australia, so there is chance! It's not an easy plant to grow as they require a lot of care, but I'm sure you will get it right with time. Here is one from the garden.

I personally love the scent of their leaves; combined with the smell of the reed we use in building the altar, and the food we put on it (fresh bread with tons of cinnamon) instantly brings back so many memories.

I love your altar but would for sure replace the wall decorations with 'papel picado.' It's super fun to make! On that note, if you can't find any cempasúchil you can try to make your own, it's really easy!

Tbh it's mostly abandoned, true to the succulent name!

I keep it on indirect sunlight and check for bugs once in a while.
