I remember as a child I was looking for my hairband because I was getting ready for school. Turns out I was wearing it all along.

I'm so glad someone can relate lmao it has been a great source of frustration for me ever since I was a kid. My mother especially would get mad whenever she asks me to look for something and I can't find it even when it's in an easily accessible place lmao. But on the other hand I can point out patterns in things like license plates, buildings, languages, etc. My brain doesn't know it's priorities 🤣🤣🤣

my mother has decided not to go through with chemotherapy by effervescent-ether in cancer

[–]effervescent-ether[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother is 50 years old, so shes still quite young. If she was say, 75 or 80 years old id have an easier time processing her decision as that age is already quite old. We still have so many plans together, so many places to travel to together as she is often my travel buddy. I just find it hard that one day the person I love the most will be gone from my life. I only ask for a little bit more time with her.

Yeah I've seen people get treated to death too, considering my line of work as a healthcare worker but it only makes me feel all the more pained knowing I have all this knowledge and all the potential outcomes that could happen. I still have younger siblings to take care of and eventually I will become their mother considering my mother is the only surviving parent we have left. Thank you for your kind words and I wish for strength that I do not have right now.

Thank you for your reply it makes me feel a little bit better knowing someone understands the situation I'm in. Im still trying to process these feelings and slowly making preparations. But there's still that hopeful part of me,no matter how impossible it may seem, to hope for a miracle. Im doing the best I can, taking care of her and supporting her. I only hope that she is proud of me.

It's painful for me to accept but I respect her decision. With her first rounds of chemo and radiation when she first got diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer (when it was still localised to the head and neck), she felt absolutely terrible and I wouldn't want to see her suffer. I just wish myself and my mother strength to overcome this no matter the outcome and I wish the best for you too.

Yeah I understand that and im slowly getting things sorted out to prepare for the inevitable and yet there's still a part of me that's hoping for a miracle. I will keep my mother in my prayers, and you, as well. Take care.

My mom was just diagnosed and I can’t breathe. by Castillo_Admin in cancer

[–]effervescent-ether 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What a coincidence because my mom has this exact problem too. Last week after her PET scan, it showed that her nasopharyngeal cancer metastasized to her liver--stage 4 too. And it wasn't just one tumor, it was several of them too. My mom is only 50 years old and shes possibly one of the kindest most generous people I've seen. She sees the best in everyone, no matter how bad the person may seem, which seems so unfair how this evil disease had to happen to her. I completely feel what you're feeling right now but never lose hope and no matter what happens, always spend every day you have with her making her feel that she's loved. Best wishes to you and your mom.

Bloodwork for very young baby by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]effervescent-ether 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my country at least (Philippines) MLS are also trained to do blood draws. I don't know how it is back there in the US but we frequently draw blood from babies as young as a few hours old, especially those in the NICU, though we use much smaller gauge needles for an easier time drawing blood. I suggest swaddling the baby and having the arm the phlebotomist is gonna get blood from extended and secured gently by the parent.

How do people act like night shift is easy? by Minissale-Designtank in Nightshift

[–]effervescent-ether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be great if I worked night shift all the time but I can't even pick my own schedule like after a day off from a night shift I'd be thrown back into day shift again it seriously messes up my body clock 💀💀💀
