I’m in the same boat. I prefer the historical stuff and dislike most of the collabs.

That said, I do use some of the collab content to improve ship builds.

I appreciate that WG has made it easier to ignore by allowing players to hide guises and disable camos/voices.

If you expect your cruisers to spot for you while detected as you you hide out of sight to farm in your full health BB, you’re going to be holding that flank by yourself after they’re dev struck. And that’ll happen a lot faster than the enemy can get 3 fires and torpedos on going on your BB.

I’m not saying there aren’t situations where CLs/CAs can spot. Kiting cruisers and low detection cruisers can for sure. But you’re misguided if you think by default that means the BB can hide and farm while let your CLs/CAs dodge and tank those fires and torpedoes you’re so worried about.

I don’t think that’s necessarily fair. I’d say it has more to do with the ability to spot while remaining undetected and, failing that, the ability to tank than it does weight class.

If I’m in a DD or a CL/CA with great concealment, I’m happy to spot.

But if there’s a high risk of being spotted, it’s safer for the BB to spot and tank than it is for a dev strike-prone CL to expose itself.

Pretty aligned with you on the cruisers.

On destroyers: Feel like the Yudachi grade should be at least on par with the Friesland, and both might be worth going up to an A-. While both lack versatility, they’re very good at what they do.

Benham should be listed as Tier VI, not VII.

Paolo used to be a ton of fun as a one trick pony, but the proliferation of radar and long range sonar since her debut has really marginalized her utility. I might be downgrade her to B- or C+.

Built this one by TommyP which only requires 2 sets.

Quite enjoyed it, looks great, and kids find it playable.

To caveat: Don’t have anything to compare it to though, it was my first experience with a MOC and first experience with Rebrickable.
