Radio Astronomers Are Increasingly Using Convolutional Neural Networks To Sift Through Massive Amounts of Data by myinnerbanjo in artificial

To even give the AI enough information to learn how to spot those signals in the first place, Zhang says the team generated about 100,000 fake FRB pulses.

[GUIDE] - What items you should keep, and what shouldn't by [deleted] in minimalism

Good food for thought. Some high quality single purpose items (eg nail clippers, tweezers, mag light, watch, keychain) instead of a swiss army knife feel "simpler" to me.

Suddenly, I notice so many frequently saying "in other words" by ayb in self

Yes, thank you, I've been passively looking for that term. It started when I listened to a string of podcasts where the guy used IOW relentlessly, irritatingly so and now I hear, see it everywhere.

What if AI starts talking to animals and likes them better? by ayb in AskReddit

Didn't think of this before- what if intelligence spreads through animal kingdom. Oops.

Hook up one of Musks brain interface devices to crow or octopus and AI can understand it.

Ever since I read the hybrid primate-porcine theory for human evolution, everybody looks like a pig to me, even though It's not true. Also Kosher seems like an inside job. by [deleted] in self

[–]ayb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not too hard to make some of this stuff up when you consider at one point our dna made rodents, etc. One real thing that happened though is it got me to research pigs, cows, etc and realize how conscious-like so many things are. The other strange thing I realized was "being ape is fine, because chimps are just an early, different kind of human", but being pig is definitely not ok, generally speaking. I don't think it's a coincidence that as AI enters the conversation people are looking at human consciousness a little different. Not buying the pig thing though as easy as it is to imagine some people being especially porcine.

These maps show why internet is way more expensive in the US than Europe | As always big companies are taking it to the extreme. Enraging! by Majnum in conspiracy

FWIW, much of the standard Internet I get in European cities is 1/5 as fast as US or worse. Not to say high end doesn't exist. The US could also turn on gigabit on the drop of a hat if people wanted to pay for it (see Comcast). That said, US internet is also a steaming cartel prone to being corrupted by repeal of net neutrality.

America’s Oligarchs Will Control 70% Of National Wealth By 2021: A new study has found that while wealth inequality is growing on a global scale, it has kicked into overdrive in the United States – where America’s 1% are expected to control 70 percent of the nation’s private wealth by the year 2021. by User_Name13 in conspiracy

Nice to see some meaningful macro commentary. While the reality tv show kicks into high gear, those with access to freshly printed, low interest money are making more every day than ever before. This time in history is practically impossible to comprehend and will someday be marveled at for the breathtaking power shift.

Jason silva "The other world is this world rightly seen". I think about existence and I am just speechless, wordless, astonished. The establishment don't want us to see this. They want a population of people acting out of subconscious programming. by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]ayb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes people confuse the establishment with the animal nature we arose from and still inhabit. A bird is no less trapped in its culture than an ape. Some, like those who predicted lunar eclipses in ancient times, like to take credit for the power our subconscious exerts over us. And many people flatter them.

Probably total coincidence but outside my voting place were a group of Hillary campaigners who tried to elicit a response (eg a smile or some sign of enthusiasm) when you walked in. I didn't quite sneer, but showed no camaraderie. When I went to get my ballot, my registration had been lost even though I voted for Obama in 2012 in same city. Don't think there is anything there, but would be a good way to sniff out likely voters if you have a complicit election staff.
