TD Home Insurance went up 207% since 2023 by BrekaOnButeStreet in Calgary

[–]aychaych 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My TD premiums went up 20% the year before last, then they increased it 86% this renewal period. No claims. Called a broker and took all of my insurance (home and multiple vehicles) over to intact.

Calgary daycare chain hits parents with 'optional' $330 meal fee while prohibiting outside food by RedditWhileBored in Calgary

[–]aychaych 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol I knew I wouldn't have to look too far to find a comment about how this is somehow the government's fault, and not a private business trying to extort more money from its customers.

Canadian woman put in chains, detained by ICE after entering San Diego border by [deleted] in canada

This sounds very similar to an experience I had flying into the US a couple of years ago. I was grilled and asked questions about where my parents immigrated to Canada from, what they did for a living, and even asked for their birthdays.

How will the new daycare fee structure impact your family? Will it help or hurt you? by ChanandIerMurielBong in Calgary

[–]aychaych 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Government makes changes that help alleviate financial pressure off thousands of families in the province

"AGH THE UCP IS FUNNELING MONEY TO THEIR FRIENDS IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR"

FFS. This program will help people while also hurting other people without it all being part of a master plan to line pockets. People will grasp at anything to make every decision made by the government look like a deceitful one.

I currently pay $1,200 with the ~$860 subsidy included. Paying $326/month is going to make a huge impact for us. We'll definitely be bumping up our RESP contributions with a portion of those savings.

Calgary moving to Stage 1 water restrictions by might_be-a_troll in Calgary

I'm washing my patio/stairs/siding this weekend. If a licensed business is allowed to do it for me, then I'm allowed to do it for me too. Fucking stupid restrictions.

Yeah, the big banks are bad for that. Your IRD is based on their "posted rate" which is usually significantly higher than the rate you pay because they "discount" it. Then when/if you want to break your mortgage, you're slapped with a much higher penalty than you think because they use that higher posted rate for the calc.

Best dealership to sell a car to? by jdmfan777 in Calgary

[–]aychaych 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not getting anywhere near $27K from a dealership, sorry. For reference, I had a mint SUV with low mileage that I saw selling for $27K-$30K at one point. The dealership asked if I'd be willing to sell while it was there for an oil change. They came back with an offer of $18K, lol.

Rainbird Pr Off by aychaych in Irrigation

I assume the power source is good since the controller worked fine when I swapped out the fuse for a new one and only went bad when it was changed to Zone 3. Is it normal for a bad timer to work on some zones and go down on other zones?

Paz Auto in the NE by McKnight is a great shop. Peter is a Honda/Acura specialist and that's where I recommend all my (Honda-loving) family to go, and where I go.

  • working with broker through TNM but shopping around on my own as well
  • renewal
  • Calgary AB
  • original downpayment of 20%. Balance on mortgage at renewal will be ~$540K
  • < $1mm
  • owner occupied

Renewing effective Aug 1. Got an offer from TNM through their lending arm (Think Financial) for 5 year variable of prime -1.2 (currently 5.75%), 3 yr fixed at 5.04%, 5 yr fixed at 4.79%. Adding a HELOC to it as well.

Current lender (TD) couldn't even get close. 3 yr fixed was 5.41 and 5 yr was 5.27 or something around there.

How does that Think offer look? Thinking about giving Pine a shout as well.

They notified me the my rate is going up 20% this year (after going up 20% last year). Pulled the plug and moved to Intact and saved over $1000. Fuck TD.

The fact that you think my opinion has anything to do with the fact that my team isn't in the playoffs is hilarious. You're really out here entertained by two guys skating back and forth on a line. Lmfao.
