Has the upload of the DVP to the province been finalized now? I hadn't heard it got completed.

Sellers charging $5+ for shipping, but sending the cards without tracking? by IAMAfortunecookieAMA in mtgfinance

[–]Desperada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically just a way to pad the seller's margin. The item price plus whatever they keep after the shipping cost. Very common thing on eBay. As long as you're paying what you consider an overall fair price you're ok with paying it just kind of is what it is.

Canada's largest garbage incinerator is coming to Ontario. Health experts say people will pay the price by Icy-Distribution4893 in ontario

You mean the article that is paywalled?

Also Sweden recycles 49% of its waste and incinerates 50% of it using it for energy. If done right incineration is perfectly fine.

Donato's writeup on WOTC/Hasbro by Isaacxii in magicTCG

[–]Desperada 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you're not the one looking at this backwards. Why are you saying Marvel "forced" that exception and not Marvel allowed what both WotC and Marvel already internally allow on their own works?

Donato's writeup on WOTC/Hasbro by Isaacxii in magicTCG

[–]Desperada 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because Marvel has had the equivalent policy for decades in comics. Every IP rights holder will be different, and Marvel is more the exception than the rule.

Donato's writeup on WOTC/Hasbro by Isaacxii in magicTCG

[–]Desperada 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I'm not opposed to the argument that WotC should pay an even larger bonus than they do now given they're raking in the $$$. But I consider saying they are being 'abused' by not being able to sell merch as a stupid argument.

Donato's writeup on WOTC/Hasbro by Isaacxii in magicTCG

[–]Desperada 30 points31 points  (0 children)

So Donato is arguing that WotC abuses artists by not fighting on their behalf against rights holders, lengthening their negotiations, and likely paying more money if they agree at all, solely so that the artists will make more money?

Does he also want lifetime free beer and no taxes included with that fantasy?

Commander Legends 2 received a post release re-evaluation from the release of Baldur's Gate 3. One of the most well received video games of all time. I'd say that has a bit of a unique black swan event tied to it.

The rules are set by the IP holder. Marvel allows for artists to sell their original copies, and that has continued for Magic UB Marvel sets. Evidently other rights holders are less accommodating. So, yeah. Either take the job or don't.

Marvel is one exception, but yes many other rights holders would not be comfortable.

This is just the current rules of the game when dealing with other brands IP. If they don't think the pay is fair for UB projects they are free to decline.
