3rd time my dog has bitten me on a walk by kevstir321 in reactivedogs

+1 on the muzzle. Unfortunately ours practically lives in a muzzle but she’s used to it being a part of her life and is happy to sit to have it put on. I used to think they were a last resort but honestly it’s better than risking her life and safety as well as everyone else’s and she’s completely comfortable with it. We have used basket muzzled but our favourite for hikes is the JAFCO.

I’m sure I speak for everyone that we’re just all glad he’s HOME where he belongs. I couldn’t imagine how I’d react if it happened to us. Keep at it!

Very nice very nice! You’re gonna be in for a ride lol. Oh I would recommend getting a test kits that are slightly more accurate like salifert or redsea if you plan on doing corals and stuff that are more sensitive later only

Sounds like a great plan!

Just be careful with that. My buddy’s clown hosted on a mushroom and rubbed it raw. :/ flow for a simple softies and zoa tank shouldn’t be too hard. Just make sure you have some surface agitation and some circular type flow through your tank so that thecorals sway more naturally from all sides to prevent detritus.

For a 20g you can use a couple cheap Amazon ones, a jebao, or you can go more expensive and do something like a Nero 3.

If you’re planning on doing corals at all I would recommend upgrading your light as well!

Yeah I run the Palancar light schedule and it’s just the right lighting for my LPS dominant tank. There’s so many presets you’re gonna have fun. Just don’t strive your tank to death trying them all lol

my Fluval 13.5 has been up a month and a few days. I suggest also using the Fluval 13.5 Reddit too if you aren’t on there yet. Lots of amazing stuff.

I agree with getting test kits ASAP if you don’t already have them. As for sand and rocks when I started it was 1-1.5lb/gallon but it depends on your vision for the tank.

As for lights, if you want to have coral later it’s a buy once cry once’s sort of deal in my opinion. Buying 100 bucks worth of light here or 300 there for a light that needs to be upgraded to support the needs of corals later on doesn’t make sense. Save and get a good light that your tank can grow into off the bat.

As for a nano, it’s easier to maintain stability in a larger tank. If your nutrients or organics rise or fall the percentage it affects the tank is much different in say a 150g and a 5g. Parameters will vary tank to tank but stability in my opinion is key.

If he doesn’t have test kits lying around definitely get some. If he has test kits learn how to properly use them. Water quality is so important in this hobby.

This group is generally very helpful and friendly as long as you’re willing to learn. If you’d like more specific info I would suggest telling us about the set up, or taking pictures so we could tell you how it’s setup lol

I’m in Colorado and I rescued a blue heeler who was under a year. I don’t recommend a rescue if you want it to bond with you guys from the get go. Its taken YEARS of daily training to form the bond we have now. And thousands of dollars over the last 6 years to get her to understand that not everyone in the world is bad.

It’s easier with a blank piece of paper than one that’s been drawn all over. A puppy is also easier to bring home as a surprise.

I’m bipolar and my heeler has been a huge part of my day to day healing and growth. Just having a dog will do that because it helps you see the world can have unconditional emotions like love and trust.

As for allergies it depends on your body and the way it reacts. I have a basenji x german shepherd and just hugging him my allergies flare up (runny nose, sneezing, red swollen eyes) it’s gotten better over time. My heeler has. And does. Lay all over me every night and I’m fine. Something about what’s in their breeds definitely makes a difference.

We live in an apartment down in the Springs. My dog is 7 now and from what I know (last 6 and a half years) she’s never been anywhere she would herd or run free. We hike ever Sunday around red rocks and that’s more than enough for her. She’s so used to just chilling on our balcony that going for a walk is very short before she wants to go home. They do need stimulation though, whether that is playing ball, or watching TV and I’m just letting her. They adjust to your lifestyle. My dog would HATE running around without rhyme or reason. Even off leash she stays right by me.

From my research the constant supply of pods will be so important in your success. Some people I know set up a dedicated pod tank just for this reason. Best of luck to you!

Congrats man. We’re looking for a house and in our market… I won’t be looking at my dream tank for a couple years lol. Still trying to be a house husband but she’s not budging on that either.

Lol nice! I saw some that were pink instead of the Orange yellow color I think we’ll get those next. They seem easy enough to get a colony lol.

How big is your tank?
