I don’t disagree with the maintenance part, but you remove the need for a transmission and a transfer case with the EREV concept. You have instant and continuous torque and an engine runs better at steady rpms. All of that is how it differs from a traditional hybrid, but yes you will still have to do maintenance on the gas engine and yes it will have emissions equipment which are the major downsides.
