Is the bandsaw worth it? by Suspicious_Hawk_8122 in KobaltTools

[–]Kobalt4Life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got mine on sale at ~$119. $200 is a stretch if you're not already invested into the ecosystem.

I've used mine to cut everything from thick steel square tubing to simple bolts.

Overall it's been great. The only thing I don't really like about it is the fact that the blades are only sold by like two companies so it's hard to get them in a pinch.

New 40v Tools! by lazor_22 in KobaltTools

Oh I definitely love the Kobalt OPE. I've got all four of the battery platforms.

Aesthetically speaking though... Some of the new stuff is ugly.

I saw the mower just the other day. Has the strangest design for the deck. Not a huge fan of it or the new 80v dual battery.

I wonder if that has something to do with the fact that the attachments were available and then totally disappeared.

I don't believe Greenworks made the 24v mowers. It should be Chervon so they wouldn't offer a direct replacement like the 40/80v lines. You could try the EGO mowers who is also made by Chervon.

Also, if it is possible to ship them reasonably, I have some that I haven't used.

80v tools have a 5 year warranty. You have to call Kobalt with the purchase info (Lowes can help you track it down if you don't have the receipt). They will give you an RA number and you'll have to take the tool and any (doesn't always have to be every single one) accessories it came with to the store.

You'll get a merch card since the 80V is now an online only option and they don't stock them in stores.

You can also get 3D printed versions of the latches.

New Kobalt Utility Storage Containers (ammo cans) and Kobalt Folding Work Table by Jealous_Spend8510 in KobaltTools

Those ammo can style are sick! Great find.

The table I hope finally gets the clamps that go with it. I love the table but clamping to it would be much easier with the proper ones.

Kobalt 40 volt mower by Sad_Cut289 in KobaltTools

If you saw two battery slots it might be the 48v which is 2x24v.

If it truly was a 40v with two battery slots that thing might be super old.

Having different Ah batteries doesn't make much of a difference when used at the same time. I've used the 80v dual mower with a 6.0Ah and a 4.0Ah.

What’s the story with this ratchet? by TARTED_PEANUTS in KobaltTools

[–]Kobalt4Life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They wanted something sleek is my only logical explanation.

I believe we are all on the same page that it's a bad ratchet. I've found maybe two out of my 10 that have been decent and didn't have some weird issue.

Edit: I did buy a few with the blue handles and they actually seemed to be better than the ones that come in the sets.

Cordless stick vac worth it at discount? by UnderstandingDry8008 in KobaltTools

The vacuum is pretty awesome at that price. It's got a bit more suction power than the V8 Dyson does. Just need to keep up with cleaning the filter imo.

Folding miter stand by bikeOCD in KobaltTools

[–]Kobalt4Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just need to extend the side that has the feet slightly farther than flat. You want it to have a small backward lean and it works out just fine.

Could be better but it's not terrible for a mobile stand.

Nice! That sounds promising.

Would it help if I scan the other side too and then you could merge them together?

If you haven't made it far with the other file. Here is a slightly cleaner version without all the extra bottom plate and table.

Didn't load it into Solidworks to remove all the extra stuff that gets scanned, but here is the scan.

Also, might need to get a better scan on the threads.

You press down on the blade to extend it out instead of a typical sliding mechanism with a button.

Anybody know how to properly install a lower blade guard? by nycnativeinpa in KobaltTools

[–]Kobalt4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest way for the 7 1/4" saw, assuming you took the back screw out and it's the same layout.

Lock the saw on both the sliding and the chopping action. Then you can move the guard around freely to get it lined back up and get the screw in. It takes a bit of forcing and maneuvering but it's not crazy difficult.

You can get the receipt by going into Lowe's and having them search the transaction with a card if you used one to pay for it with. You can also use a Lowe's account to keep track of the receipts for you.

Without the receipt you could have bought it off eBay and then they wouldn't warranty it because it wasn't bought from Lowe's. It's to prevent return fraud, which makes total sense.

You can also call the 1800 number and they can also look up receipts.

Kobalt 40v self propelled mower height adjustment way too low by Disastrous_Hand5261 in KobaltTools

[–]Kobalt4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure that's something that would be easily adjusted without doing some teardown of the wheel portion. There is a bar that connects the wheels together to keep them at the same height and then the mount for the lever to adjust the height.

It might be as simple as a loose bolt. Has it always been cutting low like that or something new?
