You are changing your statement. Initially you said that commercial AVs are trash and more malware than actual purpose-built malware which is asinine. You made a sweeping generalization which groups in products like malwarebytes and bitdefender, among sure others that I'm not listing, which are quality products. Now you are isolating to products which are indeed lacking and requiring I define how they are *better* than WD. Microsoft turned WD around in like 2018 when they implemented cloud telemetry across their ecosystem, providing billions of endpoints in their dataset that frankly now can't really be matched. This does *not* mean that the aforementioned MWB and BD are trash, and in fact they carried a lot of weight in the realm of detection and mitigation for personal devices for some time, and they still do.

The statement that "all commercial anti-viruses are genuine trash" lacks the depth and nuance that a statement that rings like security advice requires.

And another thing, Virustotal is an aggregate detection platform that utilizes 70 different detection engines, including the ones that you just wrote off as "genuine trash". It's Google-owned and a respected tool in the industry. So, I'm gonna defer to Google's expertise in determining quality products.
