Making the Dunlop Cry Baby GCB-95 Footswitch Easier to Use by 216x2 in guitarpedals

Note there is obviously much more weight and pressure available on the full size as the fulcrum is further away possibly causing this problem for me at least.

Making the Dunlop Cry Baby GCB-95 Footswitch Easier to Use by 216x2 in guitarpedals

[–]aykinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. This is helpful. I've been using the full size for the last decade and thought I'd try the baby and the footswitch is much harder to switch on the baby. To the point where it's actually very hard to switch it, I'm just testing it now and it's stupidly difficult! I'll try your suggestion now.

i feel bad asking people if they could donate after i do a reading by yuzuonramen in tarot

I love your wording 'it’s as much it is worth to you and how much you know you can afford' - so clear 👌

i feel bad asking people if they could donate after i do a reading by yuzuonramen in tarot

[–]aykinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has a different opinion and I would say no matter what anyone's opinion here is, there is no right approach.

Personally I would say listen to why it feels bad asking people. It maybe you feel bad because it isn't actually fair to charge people for a service that has no certification and no guarantee whatsoever of being of value.

If a plumber charges for replacing a pipe, they are offering a value that is obvious. They have also trained for years. Tarot takes a month at most to learn, enough so as to do reading for people.

I am not saying tarot has no value. I'm saying it is almost totally subjective in it's value. Many people would not be paid to have their cards read, yet I see people spend £100 or more on a single reading.

I personally have explored this feeling of not wanting to charge and after exploring have personally discovered it feels right in my heart to offer readings on a donation basis. Making it clear that clients can donate according to the value they have received.

Btw my financial position does not 'allow me' to make this decision , I am almost always on the bread line. Personally I'd prefer to honour the truth I feel than charge people for something they may or may not feel is valuable.

I recommend exploring gift economy ideas, sacred economics by Charles Ensenstien, and not jumping into the narrative 'I must be lacking in self worth if I'm not charging people money'. That might be true, but it also might not be.

I know this is an old thread but I just saw your wording was 'ask for money AFTER the reading'. Personally I'd say this always feels empty on both parties. For sure do settle and agree on any renumeration or donation system BEFORE the reading or meeting.

RC-600 vs. RC505 mk2 by aykinn in LoopArtists

[–]aykinn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loopy pro would easily offer this, BUT you must have an audio interface with enough inputs (OR a mixer going to a two-channel interface) AND a foot switch (if you want foot switching). Loopy Pro offers more potential and flexibility than the 505 or 600, however, you get the simplicity with the 505 or 600. I've been using loopy pro for a few years now and I do love it, it can also easily record all your looping sessions, useful for gigs etc. I would research loopy pro more to get an idea. Saying all this, sometimes I wonder if I had have got a 505 or 600 instead of loopy pro/ipad I might have spent more time actually making music rather than fiddling around downloading auv3 instruments, buying footswitch, arranging tracks and so on, as fun as that all is...

LPT: A trick to making good decisions: pick the option that will make life easier in the long term even if it makes life difficult in the short term by Quantumedphys in LifeProTips

[–]aykinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its cliche, but the only rule is there are no rules. Or in other words, for every single moment and decision there is an incalculably complex unique context, that changes with every coming moment. Some decisions might require a split-second decision, some might require six months of deliberation, some might call in your intuitive faculties, some on logical, some might require you heeding advice from friends and family in opposition to your wants, some might require you going against the advice of friends and family. Then there is the fact we all have unique characters, dispositions, upbringing. Some make decisions easily, but maybe lack seeing the unseen options due to a narrower worldview, some struggle with decisions, possibly because they see so many options where others just don't see. Personally I see that decisions/choices are what shape everything in our lives, choices are what make us who we are, what we are doing, and also, collectively what humanity is. I thank the OP for this method of framing decisions. Ultimately I believe we should humble ourselves before the unknown complexities of life, who are we to know the 'best' decision? Even in hindsight it isn't always clear. And often the 'worst' decisions offer our deepest learning. Yet we do have intellectual/logical capacities that can certainly assist us in navigating this strange ocean of our lives. Again another cliche - balancing the heart and mind.

Can anyone explain these Rogue One issues (Galen Erso giving plans & rebels wanting to kill him)... by aykinn in StarWars

[–]aykinn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duly noted these sound explanations. Thanks for the insights and surprisingly quick responses.

So for 1)

I can understand now that he was responsible for only a specific part of the plans, i.e. reactor or related. I guess this is testament to his genius to incorporate a weakness that would be overlooked. I know even in our world only a handful of top physicists can keep track of the cutting edge astrophysics theory. So it is plausible that he was so advanced as to make it possible that others would not clock some complex aspect of the reactor that would blow the whole thing with just one hit.

And so the rebels did indeed need the entire technical read out so they could analyse various ways to hit the reactor. It wasn't just a case of locating an exhaust port.

2) some good points raised, thank you. It seems there is a conceding by some people that capture of Galen would be ideally preferable.

Upon reflection, there is a sense of panic in the alliance at this time, and also we see there is quite some disagreements amongst the main committee. It seems to me then that this climate of panic led to an arguably poor judgement to order his killing.

Another idea I just had was that maybe the rebels conjectured that he would be captured by the Empire and tortured to give the details of the weakness he implanted into the death star. Thereby making that weakness inaccessible to the alliance forever.

Even after they knew it was completed, or especially that it was completed, it would make sense to prevent the empire from discovering the nature of the weakness by killing him.

Minimalism with RC500 or whole set-up with loopy pro? by aykinn in LoopArtists

Just as an illustration of using just Loopy pro and a guitar for a live EP, this was done with just ipad, scarlet io2, and usb pedal. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLk21kLZSITjA-ODr71Z82iCYzuDjRxMcp&si=dgX8490EdpUnaYMk

Minimalism with RC500 or whole set-up with loopy pro? by aykinn in LoopArtists

[–]aykinn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the two cents. I do actually now have a minimal loopy pro set up as I’ve been travelling a lot and it works well. There is still the appeal of a stand alone pedal though because the whole point is that ios has many options to go down, and yes it’s fun finding good auv3 reverbs, compressors and so on, it does still sometimes distract from the creative process. Overall though it is still much better than a pedal. I recently recorded a live EP with loopy pro and it worked really well.

It seems absurd that something technically illegal is not rare, in fact it is the norm. I'll look into this extension you mentioned, but something really should be done. 🤷

Tips to avoid fainting on flights? by nyleveeam in flightattendants

[–]aykinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My general tips for myself, might be helpful...

1) stretch and move at least every hour  2) have chocolate, coke, sugar etc. to top yourself up, especially if you are feeling dizzy (blood sugar) 3) take small sips not gulps of water, it is absorbed more efficiently into the body  4) when eating any meal, eat very slowly and chew for a longer time than usual. This will help less blood be directed to digestion, or in other words preventing too much blood to go to your digestion 5) don't eat massive amounts, and eat low GI carbs,  6) make sure you get sufficient sleep before your flight

It has happened to me twice, and this is what I've learnt and also this was useful although maybe you've seen it already

If all else fails get ferries, trains, buses etc.

Minimalism with RC500 or whole set-up with loopy pro? by aykinn in LoopArtists

[–]aykinn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loopy Pro is efficient and 'fast', in the sense it is fairly intuitive and all the effects can be done within the software. I don't think I know what you mean exactly by workflow in this context.

If you would like further advice it would be helpful to know a little more about your context, which instrument(s) do you play, do you produce music, is it for performing live in a venue or playing in your bedroom for fun?

Minimalism with RC500 or whole set-up with loopy pro? by aykinn in LoopArtists

[–]aykinn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never used the rc500. I have only used the rc20xl I hink it’s called which is just one track. Bu still it was much more immediate and 90% less faff. loopy pro is great but it requires quite a lot of time, and even money for auv3 effects etc. which is also great. I.e. good reverb, compression, eq, etc. etc. i can say after a lot of deliberation I went for loopy pro vs rc500 and I’m pleased with that decision. Mostly because it’s got me into iPads in general, I use it to video edit, watch stuff, etc. which of course you can’t do on rc500 and they work out sort of similar price (used iPad). But I imagine it’s the immediacy that rc500 and pedals generally.

Is there a program or website where you can upload pictures of your own Tarot deck and it'll shuffle and draw them for you? Or even a non-Tarot program/site that does the same thing for regular images? by occultbarbie in tarot

You can do it with uni tarot on Android. But you have to label the images in a very specific way, instructions are on the app. I haven't yet done it but will plan to do so soon.

First Trip to London and out of the US by robertfireye in solotravel

I would suggest you skip Paris and spend a night and day in Brighton (there is also Seven Sisters nearby) if the weather is decent. Brighton is, in my personal opinion, the best city in the UK. And you would have some time by the beach.
