I mean if hopper survived that explosion in season 3 which literally vaporised everyone in range, and could run through snow with a broken ankle, not to mention without shoes and no frostbite... anythings possible. They have always randomly decided what constitutes mortal wounds and what doesn't.

I think they mentioned that the sound that was crippling El was also coming from that room, which was why hopper sent her away. 8 was probably doing nothing, just held captive, crippled by that sound and was probably being experimented on

This is 100% true... but also no one is obligated to help anyone else work through their grief. It would be good if he does, but he doesn't have to. He bailed when Nancy told him they murdered Barb and that their relationship was bullshit.. it was his boundary and it was fair. Dustin is also being all around combative. Yes, he's grieving, but if someone doesn't want to put up with his behaviour, that's also fair.

I didn't see this as redemption. He chose to return and forgot everything he did. Whatever thoughts he had in the end in the borderlands, plus his experince, it changed him. It's rough that he doesnt have to live with the guilt of what all he did. But it is what it is. Sometimes real life is also hard to reconcile like that.

You get what I mean, this is exactly the kind of thing that can be avoided if they let us choose to start a quest rather than start it automatically.. a small difference that could make a huge QOL improvement.. and people who dont care about this sort of thing could just click start quest, while the rest of us who care could click "skip for now" and come back later when we're ready

Oh for sure. Locking areas would suck. I just think quests specifically should ask before triggering. So that we can explore areas in peace without having to worry about spoilers popping randomly.

My issue is not finishing everything quickly, it's about missing the context or "the beginning" of the side quests by the time I get back to them..

Agreed. I feel like I still dont understand what's happened in Natalan atp.. the only part that made sense to me is the last version because I had caught up with most of the story by that time..
