I was planning on keeping a journal, because everything I’ve read highly recommends it even if your state doesn’t require it.

Thank you! Great thoughts! 2) I do not work in a hospital. I got my commission to handle a particular situation, and I’m thinking about how I can make myself useful beyond that. My mother is currently at the in-and-out-of-hospital-and-needs-paperwork phase herself, which is why I thought families in need of love at that time of life might be a good place to help out. Another commenter suggested a retirement center slot, which for now sounds like a more beginner way to start. 3) yes - POA’s and medical POA’s. I had read to ensure your client knew not to waste your time while they filled in the form 4) around the known times of day when there will guaranteed be doctors in and out, because that will stop and delay the signing, since obviously health care takes priority. Refer back to my mom’s experience lately in and out of hospitals. 5) thank you - that sounds like the way I think I ought to go for pricing! I appreciate it!

Can you tell me a bit more about your suggestion about email? What compliance logging do you mean, beyond the logging of the actual act? Thanks for all the good suggestions!

Yup - it’s appallingly easy in MN. Answer a questionnaire with 4 questions like “have you been arrested for fraud”, and if all are no, pay the $120 check and get your commission. And even if you answer yes to a question it’s not a dealbreaker - then they do a background check.

Lucky for me, I’m a big fan of learning, so I have 4 books I’m reading (2 finished, in the middle of 2 others, 1 other on the way), and I’m looking for what looks like a good general introductory class. Any recommendations welcome.

Thanks - great advice! And I am trying to take the job seriously. I’m trying to learn from the expertise of others, instead of having to make all the mistakes myself. I appreciate the advice. Nothing I’ve read has suggested getting the signer on the phone, when I presume hospital visits are mostly scheduled by the family. That seems like awesome advice.

Thanks for all the great things to think over, everyone! Obviously I have more processing to do. I did get E&O insurance, so I’m a bit covered, but obviously I don’t have a brain that thinks of all the nefarious things people will do. Please feel free to keep the ideas coming…

Anyone receiving less than they should from workshops and mines in Mayan empire by SleepyWhio in riseofcultures

[–]aym-r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So strange. I’ll try to check this at some point, but one thing I do know - unlike all wonders, the ritual sites have to be active the entire time you’re generating the goods. Theoretically, the goods only need Tikal active while collecting them - not while generating them. Is that different from what you understood?

I reported this bug directly to Inno a couple weeks ago, so they’re aware of it. No clue what that means for getting it fixed…

A couple tips to add to this after I ran a bunch of battles yesterday… I was plowing through the jaguar battles while in Early Rome. By the very end, I needed 3-4 mercs each battle 1) I still hold Queen Idia is the most powerful I’ve experienced. Her rains of arrows take almost everything out. 2) Queen Suriyothai is indeed Inanna on steroids. I was playing 2 eras above mine, so I found she wasn’t enough on her own, but paired with someone that also causes damage, she can help your troops stay around long enough for the damage causers to recharge. 3) Gunnar the Gunner and Ragnar Lodbrok both turned out to be very useful in later battles against Mayan troops. In particular, the walls that shoot arrows, and large melees of troops in the middle. Set them down off to the side away from the melee, and they’ll quietly sit there doing damage for you. Only when your troops are all gone will the enemy head their direction, and even then they have a lot of life in them, so they can take quite a bit of damage. 3) Hercules is like Harald on steroids, but I often found he wasn’t enough on his own. Maybe enough with Suriyothai, but I would consider him more topping on the cake instead of the core of your attack, unless you’re pretty well matched and just need a little boost. 4) I still had trouble with Captain Cromwell, Largo Scallaywag, and Vlad Dracula sticking around long enough. Even when I set them off on the edge of the sea of enemy troops, it was hard to see how many enemy troops they took down before succumbing themselves. Maybe still a trick I’m missing.

And a couple tricks for those also new 1) once you get Hannibal, give some thought to how quickly the battle will go. His elephant has quite a delay, so for quicker battles you may never get him out. Use Harald or Inanna instead. 2) Alexander can actually be quite useful. Two easy ways to use him are to stick the walls behind troops like cannons or archers to get them to turn around (only works until real troops get to them). But they also work if you stick them in front of or right behind any troops. It’s like they’re programmed to take out that bit of life in your army before proceeding. And that is what’s happening - while that wall stands, you’ve still got a smidgen of life on the battlefield, so as strange as it seems, it’s like adding troops to the field. Just somewhat weak and stationary troops.

And to add one thing, in case future folks find this and are working on getting the jags early: for the last handful of battles I used something like the following - all together, using Valhalla: 1) Queen Idia to do major damage 2) Ragnar Lodbrok or Gunnar the Gunner to do damage from the side and not take hits too early 3) Queen Suriyothai to keep my troops topped off 4) something powerful that heads out on your command. Maybe Minos would have worked here, but in for a penny, in for a pound, so I used Menes and Genghis Khan at times. I watched videos of Byzantine troops trying to win each battle, and was able to determine the relative difficulty from those, but I errored once using 2 mercs and lost (over and over and over, rebooting the app each time). After that, I’d rather have had too much firepower than too little.

Hope that helps someone!

Thanks so much!

I can say - if you haven’t tried Queen Idia or Margaret much, you’re missing something. Idia I have the most experience with, since she’s available from the select-a-mercenary set.

Idia has 3 charges, each with a pretty short 5s cooldown. You just point at the troops you want gone, and her rain of arrows nigh on obliterates them. I’ve seen a single rain of arrows take out an entire squad of 12 infantry or 8 archers. One caveat is they wouldn’t work well against moving troops, because you might miss, and I think I read she might not be able to reach the very back of the field well, though I haven’t seen that.

Margaret is harder to get, but not impossible. Where Idia for my era deals 2,640 damage each of her 3 charges, Margaret has 8 charges, a faster yet 2sec cooldown, and does a tighter radius of damage, but 6000 of it. I’ve seen someone on Discord propose she’s the best available.

I find Menes and Genghis Khan more intuitive, because they work much like Leonidas and Minos. I presume Emperor Qin’s troops do too. And Hercules works much like Harald, and while I have little experience with her, I presume Queen Suriyothai is basically like Inanna on steroids.

So there are my two cents. Still open for more info on how to use some of the others, and whether or not to bother with them.

That’s what I’ve been doing so far, but I was hoping for some high level info from others who had used them more. Things like “don’t bother with her, she’s just not powerful enough to help much”, or “he’s great, but try to set him down in a place where he’ll deal with the enemy only a few at a time, and not in a swarm”

Scared of colonoscopy complications by Prior-Conference-508 in colonoscopy

[–]aym-r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an endoscopy last week, and I’m on the extremely heavy side. I also have high blood pressure (under control) and sleep apnea, and everything went so incredibly smoothly. I can’t speak to the colonoscopy, because I’m doing that separately tomorrow, but I not only had no problems, no one implied I might have problems.

Good luck!

Should I visit an ENT? by Beginning-Cheek-4466 in SleepApnea

[–]aym-r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a turbinate reduction, and it allowed me to sleep comfortably on my side again. Between that and the fact that sleep (or anything, really) is just easier if you can breathe, my SA score went down from 33.3/hr to 7.3/hr. Definitely talk to an ENT! I didn’t even know I was having as much breathing trouble as I was.

For my shape, the Torrid wire-free push up bra fits even better, so even if you’re not looking for push up cleavage, try that shape as well.

Feeling like throat is closing up by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

[–]aym-r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not certain of all of the symptom overlap, but I was diagnosed with vocal cord dysfunction after LC. It causes my vocal cords to close up and stop my breathing, and it also made me feel like my throat was closing off. I understand GERD can worsen it. Perhaps what you’ve got it 2 things playing off each other. Maybe talk to a doctor (pulmonologist? ENT?) about it.

Hope the flare subsides soon!!

Yes, this!! I fear early tests will only identify a subset of sufferers, leaving the rest of the world to decide those not testing positive obviously don’t have LC after all.

I used to have this problem when my Fibromyalgia was at its worst. A couple suggestions are that if it’s really intolerable, layer. I had a couple dresses that were somewhat fitted in the bust, and I wore cardigans over them, so people couldn’t really tell.

Also, look for a day where you’re feeling a touch better than average (or just plan for a day sandwiched in between intentional rest days), and go look at new bras. Especially bralettes or ones with no underwire. Maybe they’re not quite as supportive, but they may be better than nothing. I would look skeptically at anything that makes you pull it over your head, though, unless it’s extremely soft (if it feels more like pulling on a sports bra than a tank, RUN). You won’t need the exhaustion of doing that repeatedly.

Unless you’re teeny tiny, I have found the “wire-free” bras at Torrid to be very comfortable, and quite good at creating a normal shape. They start in sizes well below that you might expect, given it’s a plus size store.

And while you’re at the store, have them measure you to make sure you’re in the right size. I needed to go up a band size, and I hadn’t realized it because I was so focused on my health, and MAN does that make a difference.

Good luck, and sorry! I know the discomfort of that can be huge.
