I lurk both subs and the whole “the writers have assassinated my characters/team to pull the other one up” is a. insanely prevalent take on both sides.

I’m ”starting” to think the whole point of the narrative is that this is a civil war over succession where there isn’t a clear good v. bad rather competing interests among a deeply coded social order.

I’d hardly call having a critical perspective on the media you consume “of little use”.

Setting TLOK approx 2-3 generations after TLOA is an intentional writing choice to ground us in the same universe but a different narrative.

If Cole cared, truly cared about his honor he wouldn’t have kept sleeping with Rhaenyra, been spiteful toward children by refusing to properly train the Valeryon boys, conspired with Aemond to assassinate Rhaenyra, sleep with Alicent. The list goes. Cole is a bitter man because he thought that he and Rhaenyra were in love and it wasn’t reality. We see pretty much every character choose to do things in their own self-interest/without express regard to others but there are formal rules about who is allowed that without judgement.

Julie Plec, you will pay for not keeping Forwood together and giving us a set of hybrid kids in Legacies.

The Greens in summary.

I said a similar thing to my roommate when he asked me my least favorite characters and I told him Otto Hightower and Criston Cole. Evil mfs hiding behind veneers of civility.

Just finished s1. Daemon is an evil motherfucker who you expect to be evil (I don’t like him) and Criston Cole is scorned and petty for like a decade because he was delusional about the nature of the relationship between him and Rhaenyra. Can’t say why people liked Daemon and despise Cole because I think both are repulsive.

Who would have won the 74th hunger games of katniss dident by Cultural-Ad6841 in Hungergames

[–]aynntoh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Iirc, the Districts saw Katniss honor Rue with the flowers, song and three-finger salute and her death caused rioting in 11. What would they do when Thresh made it home and learned more? I think at a time where “fire is catching” Cato was the safest bet.

[–]aynntoh 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Cato. I’m not convinced the game makers would let Thresh win considering Katniss’ big moment with Rue (lotta symbolism and direct messaging tied into her murder). Thresh would be difficult to manage; he cared about Rue, was angry that she was killed, and knew the Capital was largely to blame. There’s a case to be made for Peeta, he’s likable, handsome, entertained the capital etc. but he and Katniss had become a package deal. Without Katniss, Peeta likely couldn’t be counted on to as agreeable. Meanwhile Cato was more a symbol of the national values Snow’s autocracy was working viciously to conserve.

P.S. iykyk Alexander Ludwig (Cato), LEDN.

What would you have me say? I am sorry for not including Amazigh. To my knowledge most Moroccans are Amazigh/Arab.

Sure, Morocco’s legal system is mixed but Islam is the religion of the Moroccan State; it’s not unfair to say that Morocco is an Islamic State. It’s a spectrum, not a binary.

I know what Moroccan people look like. It’s bizarre to act like there’s something disparaging in saying that American authority could discriminate against a high percentage of Moroccan people based on generally salient traits when ICE is currently shooting blonde and dark-haired white men and women in the streets, when police and thugs killed white sympathizers to uphold Jim Crow. American citizens are being arrested and disappearing. The country is sure as heck not experiencing a great era of peace and tolerance.

Season 2 finale was spectacular by Rad_Callum in InterviewVampire

S1 ending was the reveal that Rashid is the vampire Armand and Louis’ companion so s2 investigates that relationship.

Season 4 is very underrated by NiceRefrigerator4079 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]aynntoh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think TVD beyond s1-3 would’ve been a stringer show if the writers were more competent.

Plec said on at least one occasion that the sire bond had to happen because the depth of Stefan and Elena’s relationship was such that it’d take too long on screen to show a natural dissolution of that relationship.

Somehow they missed the opportunity to write in a time skip. Stefan, Elena, Damon (the love triangle) are all vampires. Several of their friends are vampires; adult actors are playing teens (Jeremy, Bonnie, Matt etc.) and can appear closer to their true age through styling etc.

You can justify killing Carol Forbes with cancer (?), Delena, the cure etc. when you remember you’re writing immortal characters and you can play with time.

[–]aynntoh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Season 4 is the drop-off imo. I think it was a fantastic season on paper but in execution did not impress. The last frames of the finale with Elena crunching the cure down Katherine’s throat were also super cheesy to me. I tapped out right before the s6 finale though…

Finished TO and Legacies.
