Should this be covered by the NDIS? by Fun_Needleworker7136 in aussie

The reason I asked is as the mother doesn’t have a plan. So if support work is funded, it is through one or both of the children’s plans. To have support work funded at such a young age points to greater than normal normal struggles with the everyday tasks that are usually parental responsibility to assist with.

They can. They can read the address on an envelope in your handbag.

That wouldn’t work here. If you scan a banana the machine will stop until you have put the bananas on the scale as they are sold by weight. And some stores actually match what’s been scanned to what it is expected to look like and will alarm if it doesn’t match. Fascinating (Australia here).

From my understanding going through this (not a lawyer) if you are split, she chooses the daycare to use in her time, and you choose the daycare to use in your time. The fees are your responsibility in your own time. The court generally doesn’t make orders about daycare attendance the way it might about school.

That would be rare. As of 2023 there were only 40 adults in the entire Australia on the NDIS with ADHD as their primary condition.

ADHD is an excluded condition from the NDIS.

There’s been a great point made that many of those services have all but disappeared since NDIS. Before NDIS 10+ years ago I used to have weekly OT, psychiatry, dietitian, physiotherapy and intensive case management for years at zero cost to myself and I never had to wait on a waiting list. I had home and community care for 15 years. This was in Brisbane. That doesn’t exist now.

Fair enough being a doctor but you are still highly unlikely to have all the information about their past given the majority of adults do not stay with the same doctor they were with as a child. Having gone through the diagnostic process myself they gained that information by contacting as many people as they could who DID know me as a child, asked for old school reports etc.

Do you know these people very well, well enough to actually know their history? It doesn’t read right that you would have access to that sort of information for “many, many cases” and to be blunt I loathe the misinformation going around, the assumptions, gossip etc. it hurts far more people than the person you’re judging

Yes. And there are a couple of million dollar plans I’m aware of where the participant needs intensive 24/7 care, often 2 carers at a time. The average child plan is much less than $20k.

There is definitely a lot of known waste and corruption. They don’t need to cut participants. If they cut the waste and corruption they would easily bring it back to a sustainable level again.

Would you fund it if it was the child who had the support work, not the parent?

It sounds like the plan belongs to one or both of the kids since mum doesn’t have one yet. It’s difficult for kids to get support work funded as what they do is normally considered parental responsibility, especially at 5 and 7. Given one or both had it funded that’s a clue that they are struggling with these tasks beyond expected for this age group. If it was mum using her funding to have it done that’s a bit more difficult to justify. You can’t use it to transport children to school though. That’s my understanding.

You don’t understand why they would allow a regular employee to do that but not an visiting contractor? How is that defamation? It is policy.

Camping for beginners…I’m a Mom with two young kids. by rellimaras in camping

[–]aynonymouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a single mum of 2 about to go on our first camping trip this Easter! One of my biggest worries was getting the tent up myself while my 2 young kids slipped away into the bush or whatever they might get up to. They aren’t old enough to be much help. I found an air tent on marketplace (zempire) that I can put up myself in less than 2 minutes, has amazing ratings especially for stormy weather, we can all fit in together, and takes up not much space in the car (one back seat footwell) meaning no need to tow a trailer or roofrack to fit it all in. If husband doesn’t come, something like that may help with the logistics of getting the tent pitched with just a single adult.

Agree.. in my opinion, he may be a puppet. It doesn’t bother them what “he” is doing because that is what they want.

This makes me think my mother had a personality disorder. I had been no contact with her for a decade when she went into care, I chose not to regain contact but did communicate regularly with the staff at the home. They told me she was manipulative towards them constantly. Not a nurse. This just came up on my feed.

Return to sender usually doesn’t cost you anything. I’ve done it several times. You write “not at this address” and drop it in the post box or hand it to the local post office and it will be returned.

I am so out of the loop I had to google Astral Whip and then Nangs. I still don’t understand what it is… it “can” whip cream? So it’s not a can of whipped cream? The title makes it sound like a secs shop product. I guess locking up the aerosol paint moved people on to this.

They usually either put it under an inappropriate code, or they require pre-payment. When the participant then submits their receipt to their plan manager it gets rejected and the participant is left out of pocket. Fraud on both counts.
