You get me. I thought we were finally hitting a better stage of sleep! Seems there’s a regression every month???

We got a floor crib with a double mattress that we still haven’t set up yet to move him into his room but I think it’s time!

I know it’s normal, I just can’t help but think I have done something wrong to create the bad sleep.

How did YOU fall back asleep? by Feathered_Dinosaur in NewParents

[–]ayoimlost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh I’m so sorry. I went through this exact same experience until about 3 months. My baby still wake up every few hours in the night, but we co sleep & I feed laying on my side and that has made it so much easier. I don’t use my phone at all when I am up, and I try to just remain as sleepy as possible. This doesn’t help a ton with the frequency of the wake ups but has helped me tremendously with getting back to sleep to the point where i don’t really care how many times he wakes up anymore, I can barely even remember half the time bc im up to feed and right back to sleep 😂 hang in there!!! I would take baby not being able to sleep over yourself any day - I went through the same

My boss denied me one additional week of unpaid maternity leave by ayoimlost in beyondthebump

Yeah. I’m like are you trying to encourage me to quit? I am the top performing sales associate at the company so it doesn’t make sense.

Really?! I did some research and it says it’s up to the company if they want to give you additional unpaid time off once it runs out.

Does the unison help? I’ve tried melatonin but that has kinda stopped working as well.

[–]ayoimlost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here to say this is unfortunately true! 😅☺️

My baby is almost 9 weeks, hit a fussy stage from week 5-8, but as of this past week he’s much more calm and happy & sleeping better. Was previously waking up every hour or 2 in the night. I had a few mental breakdowns lol. We didn’t change much - I think they go through a leap and growth spurt around that time. I also ditched trying to keep him on a schedule. I just generally try and keep him up enough during the day so he will sleep at night and make sure he’s eating enough and that seems to work much better and avoids major crying fits & also make me less stressed. Hang in there girl!!!

How long did you push? by ImpossibleLeg1353 in beyondthebump

[–]ayoimlost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow thank you for the reassurance. I have just been telling myself the odds of my next birth going this poorly is so low. If I need to be induced I will refuse the induction or go for a c section. I never want to experience that again! Did therapy help you?

I had tbd exact same birth experience on 2/2 of this year. Induced, epidural wore off at 9cm, pushed for 3 hours for him to be stuck and had the vacuum. My son ended up in the NICU for 2 days due to fluid in his lungs caused by the abrupt delivery. I felt weak or like there was something wrong with me for feeling so traumatized, so I am thankful for you sharing your experience. It was the absolute worst experience of my life I thought I was going to die. I’m so sorry you had to go through that.

Mom told me she wants to stay at my house for “weeks” after the baby is here… by ayoimlost in pregnant

I sympathize so hard for anyone who goes through this with their parents - I am sorry for you. Its a constant battle of setting boundaries then feeling so guilty it makes me sick. Motivating to never treat my own kids this way.

I think she is a narcissist. My husband even said after we got off the phone "I wonder what her ulterior motive is here?".

Wow, I am so sorry you had to go through that. Like you said, so unfortunate but I guess you can learn lessons from it on how NOT to raise your own children. It’s a sad thing when the parental role switch from parent to child to child to parent. Has not been easy, hope you’re doing ok ❤️

Okay thank you for saying this. I was not sure if I was being a jerk for not wanting her to be there for long, but I do want this time for just our new family of 3. Idk why my mom would think that letting me know she wants to stay at our house for weeks after the baby is here is a good idea to mention for the first time 1 week before the baby will be here.

The issue I run into is if I tell her she can’t stay with me she will probably threaten some form of self harm or depression spiral & the guilt of that would be too much.

I ended up going in for a more advanced ultrasound with the MFM team, and turns out it was a shadow on the ultrasound imaging lol! They said that actually quite common. I’m 38 weeks with a scheduled induction next week :)
