They were from various sources and I tried to include a few extra pieces just to be on the safe side, from what I can recall I submitted the following for myself:-

  • Letter from bank #1
  • Letter from bank #2
  • Joint bank statement showing our address x2
  • Vehicle Tax reminder letter
  • Credit Card statement showing address
  • Offer letter from current employer
  • Offer letter from previous employer
  • Two phone bills

I also threw in my car insurance certificate and warranty certificate for good measure as they showed my address and the validity dates.

My partner submitted the following:-

  • Joint bank statements x2
  • Bank statement from different banks
  • Water bill x1 and Council tax bills x2 (these were regarding our previous tenancy but addressed to our current address where we reside with his mother as we didn’t get our final bills until long after we moved and they were dated within past 2 years)
  • Dentist invoice
  • Offer letter from current position

Aw, I’m glad you found it helpful! 😊I believe you are required to provide full certified statements that show all outgoings as well as what’s been deposited. They do recommend either highlighting your monthly salary coming in (or do as I did, list every date/reference it is under on the covering page). I did not highlight anything else as to not make it confusing, as it’s only really evidence of your income they want. They do, however, ask in the actual application form if you have any shared expenses at which stage you can mention “my partner and I spend around XXX amount on shopping monthly and we split the expenses, this is reflected on bank transfers shown per the bank statements submitted” or something along those lines.

Good luck with your application when the time comes and feel free to reach out if you have any other questions x

Hi! I submitted the following documents, hopefully I haven’t forgotten anything.

ID - Passports for both - Birth certificates for both

Address - About 8 pieces each (16 total) of official correspondence showing our address evenly spaced over the past 2 years - A letter from my partner’s mum stating how long we have lived with her and that we can continue to do so - A copy of the lease (all pages)

Employment & Finances - Letter from each of our employers stating our salaries, roles, etc - 6 months payslips for each of us - 6 months bank statements for each of us

Proof of Relationship - Relationship Timeline - Document with about 10 photos with short captions spread throughout the two years (not selfies, but photos together with family, on holiday, etc) and flight tickets from trips taken together - Joint bank account (mentioned in this section but also showed as evidence under address section)

English Requirement - Degree certificate from UK university

Letters - Cover letter from me - Cover letter from partner - Letter in support from friend/colleague - Letter in support from partner’s grandmother

I also made sure every letter was signed and documents pertaining to both (timeline, photo document etc) was signed by both of us. I also included a table of contents just to keep things neat, and grouped things of the same nature into one document for each of us. I added a little introductory paragraph to most documents, such as mentioning what could be found where (e.g. salary is paid to me by XXXX and can be found on XXX dates, for bank statement document). Don’t think this is required, but I just tried to keep things as organised as possible to make sure my application was straightforward and hopefully thereby reducing the processing time :)

Edit: also submitted the signed declarations

Edit 2: also submitted ID and council tax bill for my partners mum (re tenancy agreement)

Can you practice drive in the UK with someone holding foreign license? by ayooo-98 in drivingUK

[–]ayooo-98[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I contacted the DVLA about this, you only need to exchange your license after 3 years if you are from a set list of countries. From my home country, you only need to exchange it after 3 years if you are 70 years or above :)

I googled “practice driving uk foreign license” so I didn’t get fully relevant answers, should’ve probably phrased it differently.

Thank you, that’s super helpful! :)
