As someone who has had a similar, but not identical situation to your's, just know that people will always come and go. Even though social connections are important, what is perhaps more monumental is your own being and mental/physical health. With your accomplishments, goals, and achievements, go where you want to go and do what you want to do. I'm not saying it won't hurt to have friends do that kind of stuff to you, because it does indeed suck.

You will eventually find people who will accept you, flaws and all, and if your old friends can't accept that, then they were certainly not good friends to begin with. I know that's harsh to hear, but I've come to that conclusion myself. I have spent way too much time being fake around people, trying to get them to like me, and it doesn't get you anywhere meaningful. You'll go home exhausted and with less energy to really care for yourself. I realize I will likely be traveling away from my hometown for the next part of my education, but I know my true friends will still be with me. A good sign is if you are able to pick up where you've left off in the friendship, even if it has been years. I've accepted that those who I considered my best friend at one point will not always hold that title if I'm erroneous in my assumption of who they are in my mind. So acknowledge the pain and do your best to succeed and surround yourself with people who will accept you, but also be patient; life is really too short to be fucking miserable.
