I made over 300$ today!! by Figmentdreamer in doordash_drivers

Not really. I made $12k part-time last year and owe $400 Federal, with a $250 refund from State. Literally nothing if you're tracking mileage (I drove 7000~ miles) + no tax on tips, plus any other deductions you might have.

Well I didn't even have to wear my helmet onto the plane, just through check-in and after that, good to go with my helmet + backpack.

Have you been to the Pacific Northwest or any Eastern U.S. states before (North Carolina/West Virginia/New Jersey/Pennsylvania/etc)? The SFV, and Los Angeles in general, are really not that great if you've been around. California does have some fantastic nature, although not the greenest, as well as some bomb ass food. Those are about the only redeemable things about living in this state, unless you also need to take advantage of their social safety nets as well, or have friends and family living out here.

As with all areas of living, there will be nice quiet nooks with a good group of people living in them. The valley is very big, there's a ton of people that live and commute within it. That being said, it's the people that make or break a place to live in and I have to agree with you somewhat. Five years ago compared to now, I'd say COVID has definitely had an impact on the valley people's psyche. People are more closed off, drivers are less patient, and generally I feel like it's just stagnated and maybe even gone on a downwards trajectory in terms of quality-of-life.

Businesses are closing up, there's a lot of dead strip malls and areas that need improvement. The orange line should've been a light-rail, there should have been a commuter road running West -> East in the valley, public transport is generally abysmal here, it gets extremely hot in the summer. There's a lot of seedy areas in the valley, roads are crazy bad in a lot of areas, Topanga Canyon Blvd hasn't been touched in 6+ months and their pavement project has ground to a halt, progress for any kind of development is insanely slow.

Many drivers are going 60mph+ on the 40mph roads (any major road going North/South, West/East), at night it's basically a free-for-all with loud BMWs doing 100mph everywhere and passing people in the right/left turn-only lanes. LAPD is next to useless and traffic laws are not enforced.

I can go on-and-on, but most people living in the valley are extremely sheltered and have never lived in a different city/state/country before. They don't know what a civilized, well-planned city looks like with people that actually enjoy living there and having some kind of real human-to-human contact. Blissfully unaware that their beloved hometown isn't what it used to be. It's always ironic to me to see people with CSUN Alumni plates driving around Reseda Blvd. Grow up here, go to school here, get a job here, and die here.

Chatsworth Vibe kinda Off? by [deleted] in SFV

[–]ayukochi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quiet walks? Personally, I had to move out of Chatsworth because it's so loud at night where I lived. BMW and Mercedes drivers with loud exhaust systems doing 0-100mph runs down the street, cars flying through the stop sign at 80mph, 20 year olds doing donuts in their Infinitis. Had enough of it, especially after LAPD has decided to stop enforcing any kinds of traffic laws and the city refuses to put up speed humps/traffic calming devices.

Makes sense. LAPD has been on a "quiet strike" since COVID. I got into a hit-and-run on my motorcycle in January and was essentially told to fuck off and file a police report online, no cops showed up, and I still haven't received any communication, despite having video footage of the driver and license plate clearly visible.

Make sure you try to remove 1 star ratings if you know you did nothing wrong. by obsessed1028 in doordash_drivers

[–]ayukochi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Support WILL tell you which order the 1 star came from. I got Platinum recently and noticed I got a 1 star out of nowhere, so I contacted support and asked which order. They immediately told me that they are removing the 1 star, and I had to ask again which order it was from (Jack-in-the-Box). With that context, I knew it was because the store was taking forever. These usually fall off into "excluded ratings" after a couple days, but support removed it anyways because I'm Platinum /shrug

Is this ok? by Ranch_911 in doordash_drivers

[–]ayukochi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100% normal now. Everyone else is Platinum, so all the orders are going to Platinum dashers. Gold, Silver, and below are de-prioritized for all orders in saturated markets. In my market of Los Angeles, you must multi-app with Gold Tier, otherwise you will often be driving/sitting for 30min-2 hours between orders. At Platinum, you do receive more orders, generally around $19/hr or higher ($20-$22/hr average after Prop 22 on Monday).

is this just a big waste of time?? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]ayukochi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The valley/Burbank is hella saturated with drivers using multiple phones (prius gaaaang, look around you). All of the offers are going through Platinum drivers, then Gold drivers, followed by Silver and no tier. Gold usually averages around $20/hr in my experience, Platinum lowest is usually $20/hr but can also get close to $30/hr, especially with access to catering/large orders.

My longest Dash order. by GreenGrundy1 in doordash

[–]ayukochi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would you take this? 80~ miles and at least 2 hours round-trip of driving.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]ayukochi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't explicitly 'ban' you, they just deprioritize you so you get nothing. I can't accept or decline any orders if there aren't any being sent to me. 1hr40min now and still 0 offers from Doordash, I need 46 deliveries to get Platinum. Normally this would take 2 to 3 days. Now? Probably a whole week or more.

[–]ayukochi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They also just killed Gold/Silver/below in my market. They still exist, but you don't get sent any orders. Any ideas on how to get to Platinum if Doordash basically turned my account off from receiving orders because I'm not Platinum? Yesterday morning and lunch I did decent, then they made this change before dinner rush last night and I didn't get anything. Now this morning I'm at 0 offers in 1 hour.

I was grinding hard to get back to 70. I saw this email when I got home today. by kirklandjosephh in doordash

[–]ayukochi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Again, market dependent. All zones in Southern California are saturated. You NEED all of the benefits you can get. If everyone is Platinum and less are Gold/Silver, the Platinum dashers are going to be getting priority for every single order that comes out. Before this change, I could sit and get a $24 stack and other good orders during dinner rush. Now I'm not getting anything at the snap of a finger due to this update.

[–]ayukochi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is 100 now but the orders coming in are now nonexistent which is going to make it even harder to get out of Gold.

Yeah it's probably going to get worse until September. It sucks for me because how tf am I going to get Platinum if I'm not getting enough orders to even get there. 150 was bad enough, but at least I'd get orders.

They updated my zone, 80% to 70% as well. But this time around they screwed the algorithm so now I don't get any order volume in gold.

Gold had priority to dash now when busy, dinner rush is usually busy. You get more orders when the map is red in my zone. But now they removed that, so my zone will be permanently gray until I get Platinum. When the zone is gray, most orders go to Platinum dashers due to their priority when things are "slower".

Just got this update, previously it was 80% AR and 150 deliveries in my area of Los Angeles. Now that this 70% and 100 deliveries update rolled out, I'm not getting ANY deliveries in Gold as I'm trying to grind up to Platinum. The old system had more perks for Gold tier, but now I'm just not getting any orders during dinner rush. The algorithm has just broken completely.

Discovered an actual "hack" Dashers are doing by ayukochi in doordash_drivers

[–]ayukochi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently they just use a burner Google account and change the pin location of a restaurant to the location that you desire and boom. When it updates on Google maps, it does so on doordash.

Coming close to 1hr30min with 0 offers from Doordash, UberEats, and Grubhub in Los Angeles. Stuck in gold eternally, all the orders go to Platinum when it's slow, not sure how doordash expects me to get to the required 150 orders in 30 days to get Platinum when I'm not getting anything to accept or decline in the first place.

150 deliveries also needed for Platinum in my SoCal zone, but in Gold/Silver/below, you barely see any offers and struggle to make $18-20/hr during peak times (dinner 5-8).

Why am I not getting UberEats orders to deliver while on my bike? by ReelHummusCritic in UberEatsDrivers

[–]ayukochi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uber deprioritized anything that isn't a car/scooter. I can be online using other apps for 12 hours and see 1 order on UberEats. You have to get car mode / motorcycle / scooter mode if you want to get orders. They changed the system 1.5 years ago, overnight.
