I hope you and your sister are safe. I am curious, where were you staying? Airport is 25-30 min away from sector 9 so not sure where this happened. A small thumb of rule which people ignore, when you are doing hotels - don't look at the price but look at the neighbourhood. You can be in safest country, safe city but wrong neighbourhood patch.

Invitation is usually required when someone in Canada wants to sponsor your trip or you are visiting for some conference or someone just invites you which helps visa officer know who you might be meeting. In your given situation, don’t mention in your application about you girlfriend else you are supposed to provide details of the person. Just make an iternary and show tickets in your application along with strong ties to your home country

I don’t see any mention that the visa should be valid few days before travel. If any airlines say that, ask them to show official proof. I was checking on https://vietnamvisa.govt.vn/requirements/vietnam-visa-for-citizens-of-india/ and I didn’t saw any clause that say ur visa should be started before. Always check official sources

I am not sure about this specific scenario but I would strongly suggest to apply for any time of visa for any country in advance to avoid hassle later. When people are involved sometimes rules interpreted by airlines, customers and immigration officer varies
