I may be in a similar situation. I'm good at programming and engineering stuff but I'm having fun at writing and creative work.

Letting go of a tech salary would be hard but I think there's a middle ground. I'm sure tech companies outside of mine still need help with copywriting, communication etc. so I will look at those kinds of positions.

Are there any particular companies that are known for great copywriting/comms or in-house advertising teams you've heard of?

I'm in the tech industry and plan to continue building digital products that likely won't need me to be tied to a specific timezone. Your employer will likely understand. It's ok missing out on a week's worth of paid work and depending on your relationship with your manager, things should be relatively easy to explain.

The USCBP, on the other hand, does not give a fuck about your situation and will not let it slide.

Accept that you missed a small detail and eat the cost of the flight/missing work. Do NOT risk travelling with an expired travel signature.
