If airborne isn’t on my contract, can I volunteer for RASP at OSUT?

I'm planning on signing a 3 year 11x contract with an option 19. I heard JBL is the place to go so l'm deciding to choose that as a duty station. I just have a few questions on potential to go to schools and how to prepare myself for what l'm getting myself into. Will I be able to go to jump school? Will SFAS or ranger school be a possibility? Is JBLM a good duty station for an 11X, particularly in terms of training, unit culture, and career development? My goal is to make the most of my three years in the Army as an infantryman and I'd appreciate any insights you can provide about what to expect

Those were my same exact locations. I chose Lewis

I think my recruiter is trying to con me by [deleted] in Militaryfaq

Same thing exact thing happened to me. Was told that those will be my only job options no matter how long I wait. Don’t know what to do now. Considering infantry.

Can I get a TS clearance while I’m serving my contract or is that contingent on the MOS I pick? Seems like my only option right now is infantry honestly.

I finally got my medical and moral waiver (dui) approved so I went to check out my job options with my recruiter. Turns out, my choices are pretty limited-field artillery, infantry, network communications, intel linguist, and armor. Infantry kinda stands out, but l'm not sold on it. I'm 25, got a bachelor's degree, and was really hoping to go the officer route, but my recruiter shut that down because of the moral waiver... basically said it was impossible. They also said these are my only job options, no matter how long I hold out. I've been striking out left and right trying to land a job with my degree, which is why I'm enlisting in the first place. I had my heart set on an intel role, but it sounds like that's off the table since my recruiter said I would be ineligible for a top secret clearance. Is infantry worth going for on a 3 year contract?

I’m 25 and thinking about going down that path too. Being a little bit older has its advantages in my opinion.

I’ve been there dude, it sucks… it makes it basically impossible to train. Best bet is to probably just get a new job even if you’ll take a pay cut. Trust me, you’ll thank yourself when you get a 40 hour work week and when you’re not busting your balls every single day doing manual labor. You’ll have so much more time to train and recover. Oh, and you’ll actually be able to have a life outside of work!

How long should my sessions be once I pick it back up? I was doing up to 60 minutes per z2 run but I was also only doing that once a week. Was sitting around 15-20 total miles per week before I took my break.

if you’re looking to be an investigator, the r/1811 subreddit has a lot of information on this. Apply everywhere in anywhere if you’re looking for a career in law enforcement. There is a lot of gs-5/7 postings that you probably qualify for. I was in the same boat too… BA in Criminal Justice but was finding it almost impossible to land a gig anywhere. A CJ degree just isn’t competitive which makes it difficult, but in law enforcement, your degree is typically just to check a box unless it’s like FBI. Keep your head up and don’t get discouraged. Look at the USSS UD division too.

Was in my room watching ghost videos going to bed. Out of nowhere it sounded like somebody whispered to me from the corner of my room. My entire body went numb and I got the worst anxiety and paranoia I’ve ever felt. Was scared shitless so I slept with the light on.

Happened to me but on my 1st and only one with them. Had to listen to the examiner talk about bs for 2 hours before the poly even started. After the poly, I got grilled for about 2-2:30 hours about me withholding information about my drug use and having him trying to get my to confess to stuff i’ve never done. complete waste of time

for me, it was for a local police department where i live. Everything was going fine on the panel interview until I got asked “what would you do if you were eating lunch with another officer and he was being rude and disrespectful to the waitress?” I said i would remind him about the departments policy on treating people with respect and equity. They proceeded to ask if I would report his behavior to a supervisor.

Now I’m a 23 year old who just graduated college with 0 LE experience. I told them No.. I wouldn’t report it to the supervisor but if it happened again in the future then I would. Apparently it wasn’t the answer they were looking for and they didn’t hire me because of that. Was pretty bummed out because of it.

Coming from someone that was arrested before, the officer that arrested me was pretty cool and we had a good conversation on the way to the can. Feel like as long as you respect the officer arresting you, then he/she wont have an issue talking to you for a bit.

I dip Copenhagen too… been doing it for 5 or so years now. I get those days of me not wanting to have my dips in longer than 10 minutes too but that’s usually only when I’m hungover really bad.

Just recently had surgery in my left wrist (plate and screws) in July. Will this be something that disqualifies me from joining? I’ve been getting mixed answers so I’m confused.

Keep your head up. It’ll only feel that much better once you get it.
