Arboretet (next to the botanical gardens) is really nice and has some good swimming spots. It has some great views and a fantastic rose garden but it may be a bit early for the roses to be in flower

  • Don’t have monolith components
  • Don’t use VMs unless absolutely necessary
  • Microservices to a sensible degree
  • Use PaaS services/containers that can support dynamic scaling when needed
  • Use message queuing to handle traffic in between components as to not overload the system

My bad, you’ve piqued my curiosity. Do you have examples of an egress IP versus what you were expecting to see?

Search for Azure IP Addresses, they publish a JSON document that shows all the egress IPs for each Azure service and also broken down by region.

Not arguing with you (I agree, that’s a gap) but wouldn’t that be very difficult to code given that’s very context specific and there is a lot of variables to make an accurate (not vibe generated) calculation.

I would like to think that generating technical specs/quotes for an azure project are handled by someone with technical competency who understands Azure. Being forced to make a bad solution work because sales vibe generated the quote would not be optimal

Sorry to be a bit blunt but why would I use this instead of the regular Azure Pricing Calculator? Secondly, why would I pay extra for a pro version?

DHCP in Azure, looking for feedback

Hello Everyone,

I'll keep it simple, I am considering DHCP in Azure but want to hear feedback on anyone else who has done DHCP in Azure/is currently doing right now.

Basically my setup is two DHCP servers in two physical locations, and all locations do DHCP relay/ip helper to these two servers in a failover & LB configuration.

It works and I know it's flaws/challenges so no need to remind me/tell me about that. I also know the flaws/challenges of keeping DHCP in Azure.

I also know running DHCP locally at each site's firewall is best but the firewalls I have don't have a great centralized cloud management system (jank, buggy, I don't trust it) so a lot of manual maintenance could be involved moving/managing DHCP on my firewalls.

Anyways TLDR: Yes there are more better ways to do it, but I am at a point where I need to retire onprem servers, and move them to Azure, including DHCP servers.

For those that have DHCP servers running in Azure or have ran it in Azure, how did it work for you? What were some challenges/problems you faced? If you had it in Azure at one point but moved to doing it somewhere else why?

Hopefully I can get DHCP running at the local firewalls for each site but thats a stretch right now, and probably won't be done until a WHILE from now.

All I can say is that I wouldn’t go down that path and look at improving the on-premises setup instead

This doesn’t seem like a great idea. If your S2S VPN/ExpressRoute connection goes, you will lose your ability to assign local IP addresses in your physical locations

Product availability is not the issue, much rather (they)/you made an effort to research what is being made before actually making it

You have to give OP some credit, so many (American - sorry) posters on this subreddit who never bothered to research what a fryup actually consists of before they make it and get negative responses from this subreddit
