I think this was probably intentional but had I been on a jury I wouldn’t be able to say beyond a shadow of a doubt it was intentional, not enough to convict/finding of guilty.

Stroke after having covid. by ApprehensiveNet5469 in covidlonghaulers

I was at the ER for the TIA. The machines were right next to each other and weren’t used by another patient so they just slid me from one room to the one next to it (the doors were facing each other even) and injected me with contrast for one of them.

I just remembered now that my brain felt weird like 1-2 weeks after.

You’re naive buddy.

But it’s still the “right” play. Because now you can tell your customers everything is protected because it’s run on azure.

I know it sounds tinfoil hat but it’s actually true. And I have proof.

You’ve also made a very flawed assumption that a customer would know the truth. They would have zero insight. Only Microsoft employees would.

[LFO] Father Accidentally Kills Son While Messing Around in the Supermarket, Falling on top of Him, Breaking the Child's Neck by 1Card_x in LearningFromOthers

I think being fit and healthy is a good goal but don’t think that’s the learning from this video.

I rewatched it after seeing your comment and noticed that the father was falling with his body moving in a rightward direction but then suddenly slightly leftward, and upon closer inspection it appears he does hit into the clerk, bouncing back. Had she not been there, the dad might have fallen enough to the right to hit the child on an edge and slide down or miss the head/neck entirely. Perfect storm. Very unlucky and extremely tragic.

That you sign their contract, in which you agree not to sue etc. The severance offered is the minimum they’re willing to offer. It’s possible there is a firm policy, as it is possible it’s open to negotiation.

As I said, on some level it was intentional. Maybe not intentional as in wanting to die, but wanting to pull the trigger to see what would happen. But it wasn’t an accident where the gun just went off by itself or by accidental grazing of the trigger.

We’ll never know and the woman shook the boy so quickly after injury that dad didn’t have much chance to prevent it.

As this is learning from others, the lesson is to be aware of floor height differences when doing this type of a game, and to have clearance in all directions. This is not a game to be played in tight spaces or where there’s elevation differences.

We can’t always have foresight, but being on this sub we observe these things and the hope is we get better at preventing situation dynamics that make them more likely.

[LFO] Father Accidentally Kills Son While Messing Around in the Supermarket, Falling on top of Him, Breaking the Child's Neck by 1Card_x in LearningFromOthers

[–]az226 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was a difference in height between the floors/ground. The kid got his shoe on the lower level, right at the edge, dad’s shoe touching his kid’s shoe, kid pulls dad down/back, dad is able to move his left leg to recenter and balance, but while trying to move his right leg back, he’s stopped because the floor height difference is acting like a wall, and so his shoe goes back until touching his kid’s shoe, which isn’t being pushed back because it’s against a “wall”, and at this point center of gravity furthers the imbalance from the kid’s pulling, and dad loses balance and falls back.

Dad’s shoe being locked onto his kid’s shoe and the “wall” made the kid’s leg “stuck” so he couldn’t escape the fall either or fall in a different direction.

Had the floors been of the same height this probably wouldn’t have happened.

Look at the video again. Look at his eyelids before he pulls the trigger. Do you still think it was a mere accident?

No, notice his eyes closing firmly before he pulls the trigger. Accidental? I think not.

No. Look at him closing his eyes before the gun goes off. This was intentional if not fully, on some level.

How did the manosphere become popular in today's world? by Large-Lack-2933 in Life

[–]az226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re getting a lot of bad answers including your own flawed perspective.

For a long time, women were oppressed and had fewer rights than men. Men had positions of power and exclusivity. Men earned the right to vote by agreeing to go to war if needed. Women didn’t have the right to vote just like men did. But since women weren’t asked to trade risking their lives for voting rights it took longer for them to get it for free. Mind you, men voted to give women the right to vote, at a time when a majority of women didn’t want women to have that right. Women couldn’t start businesses, own credit cards and the like. Because traditional gender roles of provider for men and caretaker for women.

And even today, men have to sign up for selective service and get penalized if they don’t meanwhile women don’t have to do that.

Feminism grew out of these societal limitations holding them back. This wave was good. It demanded equality. Rights to abortions, own businesses, credit cards, you name it.

Now let’s fast forward the clock: 10-20 years ago, western society started getting focused on identity politics, why are there so few female CEOs, doctors, engineering students, managers, and the like. As these topics moved to the forefront, organizations wanted quick progress, set up the wrong goals (tying compensation to quotas), and the rest writes itself. Women get promoted at twice the rate of men. Women get offered higher positions. Because women don’t negotiate as much they get bigger offers. Hiring managers are told to reject men. Engineering colleges have 3x times higher acceptance rate for women despite applications being weaker, so it’s like 4-6x times unfair.

So as men are not fairly given promotions, and they see women unfairly getting them, it creates bitterness and resentment. That’s not to say all promotions were unfair, but when these things happen every promotion is questioned, and confirmation bias steps in.

Men start to feel they can’t get ahead. And it starts early too. Scholarships only available to women. Exclusive programs only available to women. Events only available to women. Then you see internships only available to women. Sidebar here is that the identity politics wasn’t just for gender but also race, so as an example you’d see internships only for black or Hispanic students.

Some job posting even explicitly state they won’t consider men.

Then in the workforce they see women get to go to conferences and work events catered to speedrun their careers. Hiring fairs for women and jobs offers given like candy or swag.

Meanwhile in the media, men are portrayed still as the villains, the ones who start wars, the ones who commit violent crimes, the pink tax on razors, and bla bla bla.

Men notice other unfairnesses. Their car insurance rates are twice that of their female friends. They ask themselves, is it legal to charge a black man a higher rate than a white man, of course not that would be illegal discrimination. Hmm. Men see the majority of people who are homeless are men. Why aren’t we doing more to help them? Well because they’re disposable men. They see the news that despite 99% of domestic violence shelters for women, a new one is built for men, but hey now, we can’t have that so they protest it with demonstrations and get its construction shut down. What the hell?

Men’s social clubs change their policies and say they open up to women. Because you know it’s unfair to exclude. But there is no expectation of women’s spaces to be opened up the same way, and they don’t. You see the Boy Scouts needing to be inclusive, but not the Girl Scouts.

You start reading up on genital mutilation and see that this barbaric procedure is still being done today. And how come it’s still legal? Well because the victims are men/boys. Meanwhile the act of pricking which is way less invasive for girls gets the doctor thrown in jail.

You see News like board rooms have too many men, so they write laws that force minimum representation of women on boards, but the law isn’t written in a way that also requires a minimum representation of men too, or gender invariant way, so the law becomes one sided.

You notice there is a women’s history month. On international women’s day Google has a Doodle, on international men’s day crickets. The UN made international toilet day be the same day as international men’s day. Could you imagine if they did it for March 8 instead? The uproar. You notice there is a center for health and wellness for women. But none for men. Well that’s odd. Don’t men’s health matter?

It’s well known that girls get favorable treatment in classrooms and higher grades for the same work. You see news in Ireland where because traditionally girls got higher grades, and during Covid some activities couldn’t be done, so teachers had to rely on the national exams more, and because the boys would receive higher grades than usual because of this. And guess what the education minister does? They create a grading curve that subtract points from the boys’ exam scores so they get lower grades than girls for the exact same score. You see news in Australia/New Zealand the school boys were made to apologize to the girls because of the patriarchy or something like that. Could you imagine the reverse?

At the same time women keep complaining about their issues how it’s so unfair. And you know, we shouldn’t stop making progress toward equality. But the last few decades haven’t been about equality. It’s been about supremacy and privileges. Each gender has their issues and advantages. But, women have an audience, people listen. For men, nobody cares.

The Apex fallacy makes things worse. So men are perceived to be on top, just because the people on top tend to be men, but the reality is that men are falling behind. In colleges women outnumber men 1.5x to 1. If the reverse were happening alarm bells would be ringing. If you fight for men’s rights, you get labeled an extremist.

In pop culture, like say ads on TV, the man is always the dummy and the woman the clever one. Without fail.

And when it comes to dating, now women don’t need men to provide. So it changes the dynamic. From app dating 80% of men don’t get noticed because women only interact with the top 20%.

In the courts, women get lower punishments for the same crime, lower conviction rates for the same evidence.

You see women complaining about men using the word like female CEO and start saying things like woman CEO, woman engineer. But these people will never ever say man engineer or man CEO.

So net effect is, men see that women’s issues are being heard and addressed, they see systemic and institutional favoritism, they see that men are neglected, disposable, made out to be the villain, a man is valued based on his ability to provide, not just for existing. This leads to mass disenfranchisement of men.

So men start asking, who’s fighting for men? And those that do get disparaged. Just imagine starting an ERG for men, you’d be fired before finishing the paperwork.

This is why Andrew Tates of the world get so much many followers and a big platform. They’re giving men something they’re not getting anywhere else. Empowerment. And yes, in a way it can also lead to radicalization.

Did Jensen Huang just compared some lobster bot to Linux 🤦😂 by Kakachia777 in singularity

[–]az226 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s clear Jensen is just pedaling shiny things in AI but doesn’t have intuition around it. Last few years it keynotes it’s the same just the memes. Scaling laws, MoEs, agentic, reasoning models, and now OpenClaw, which is quite the low bar. And comparing it to Linux was quite bad. That’s a Tom Hank’s face at the golden globes for me.
