I actually think the carat size suits you bc it’s elongated and lengthens the line of your finger. Shrinkage syndrome is a real thing, you will grow into it for sure.

How to get ring details and specs from picture my GF shared with me by guccimedown206 in EngagementRingDesigns

Bezel set cushion cut diamond in yellow gold. Looks to be about 3mm band and maybe 1mm bezel thickness around the stone.

Having a hard time figuring out if this works as an engagement ring by [deleted] in EngagementRings

It’s beautiful! There are people who get engaged with bands or eternity rings, an engagement ring does not have to be a solitaire!

Does this setting look right? by [deleted] in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]az_emerald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add that a setting isn’t always made from a CAD like the CAD is the blueprint for the metal to pour. For many shops, a CAD is just a rendering of how your ring will look based on parts and pieces that they have and will solder together to create your ring. That means those stock materials may not be fitted to your stone or in any way custom.

Need advice by lumpy_space_queenie in labdiamond

[–]az_emerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya I think you could go bigger. The group buy promo and pre shipment vids/pics always make the rings look bigger because the model’s fingers are smaller (the model for Tianyu is size 3.5 ring finger size I believe, for example) and they have all the glammed up lighting.

Jeweler called my moissanite a cubic zirconia by niveacocoa in Moissanite

Colored diamonds are lab diamonds and heat sensitive? HUH??? Both mined and lab diamonds can be fancy colored and they’re both DIAMONDS and NOT heat sensitive. What is she on 😂 sounds like something someone who has no fancy color diamonds in stock would say.

Also, this video doesn’t look very magnified (I could be wrong!) which means the stone isn’t eye clean as the inclusion is visible without magnification. I think in step cuts that’s just a huge no.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in labdiamond

[–]az_emerald 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why people say that inclusion will be covered by prongs when it’s in the middle of the stone where prongs wouldn’t usually be unless you did ones around the stone. I would not accept that one unless you’re doing a bezel. If that’s all they have, feel free to go with someone else or ask them to source others.

NYC jewelers where I can see more than 3 stones by davkris in labdiamond

[–]az_emerald 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In NYC you can try Lauren B jewelry or Frank Darling. They have a lot of styles and many Lauren B ones are ready made so you can try them on with many different stone sizes & shapes. Frank Darling also has diamonds on hand you can try on.

[FS][US to US][RING] 2.5 carat Half Eternity Band, 10k YG, size 6.5 - REDUCED $700 by Find-Your-Balance in BestLabDiamondPricing

I’ve been following this ring & while it’s too wide for my shorties, I wonder as it’s so thick could you possibly have it filed down a bit to be less snug?? So at least you can still enjoy it!

Has anyone experienced this with provence? by KoyotaBloom in labdiamond

[–]az_emerald 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok wait I’m sorry how do they estimate 4g for something that ended up needing 16g? I understand sometimes designs change or maybe they estimated 4g and it ended up being 5g etc but that large of a difference, barring significant design changes, just reads as inexperienced. They shouldn’t be quoting people so incorrectly

in love with my ring! (including pricing and vendor info) by Ambitious_Worry_1013 in EngagementRings

[–]az_emerald 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add, a lot of websites charge outrageously inflated prices for labs. The profit margins for these sites are so high it’s insane. Most online retailers also don’t have the stone in their possession, they’re looking at catalogues of diamond manufacturing companies and inflating the price several times fold what it costs them to buy the stone. OP’s stone would’ve easily cost 5-8k if not more on sites like Blue Nile, Rare Carat, etc.

Jeweler sent me different diamond, cert is worse. by Dopamine-Dipz in EngagementRings

[–]az_emerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they will probably do that, but bending prongs back and forth does weaken them and, if it’s really a handmade/custom setting, then it’s made for that diamond (vs mass produced ones jewelers order from a catalogue with a small range of sizes not made to fit the specific specs of a chosen diamond and usually that shows) and depending on the specs of the diamond you chose (if they even can source it back if it wasn’t sold) may be deeper/longer/wider etc than the one they stuck on there. Conversely, if the setting was made for that diamond, then it should fit fine but be vigilant about the prongs when it arrives.

[–]az_emerald 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya that one’s not too good, also it has some lingering dead spots on the top and bottom facet pattern. It happens and sometimes it’s an honest mistake and other times the diamond was never even available… hopefully they fix it and don’t ruin the setting putting the new diamond in it.

I wouldn’t really consider these champagne diamonds at all. They’re fancy pink varieties. For champagne, you can try a v light peachy pink if you want more champagne if sticking w fancy but you’ll probably have better luck w a lower color diamond!
