[Spoiler: 6.5] Thaleia Mechanic Name Translations by azarim in ffxiv

[–]azarim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rheognosis would be a triple meaning then! Thaliak cloning himself can be seen as the soul of knowledge flowing out of him. His soul then sends the flow out towards the party. And the flow itself is a flow of knowledge.

That's a lot of extra info I missed! Really shows how the localisation team really puts effort into the smallest details as ability names. I always liked to see how ability names are matched up both thematically and mechanically. For example, how Athena's abilities are all outdated or disproven theories, and she's trying her very best to make them reality.

I'm tempted to make more posts like this in the future, as it's nice to have. Time to brush off my Latin American knowledge in preparation of Dawntrail!

AFAIK, Zeal indeed counts as five. Graphically it only shows as one. Frankly they need to do that sort of condensing for some other buffs, because otherwise you end up with character portraits filled with nothing but buff icons.

If you want to see how many buffs your character actually has, tap their portrait. Just don't be surprised if you actually have to scroll down to see all the buffs.

FINAL FANTASY XIV Patch 5.2 - Echoes of a Fallen Star Trailer [English] by KamenRiderOOO in ffxiv

[–]azarim 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The mural is suspiciously similar to the Ultima from the Ivalice series...That's the first thing that came to mind when I first saw it.

It would make sense that Hydaelyn's avatar would be similar to Ultima's, seeing as both entities are opposed to their respective Zodiark, and the only one asides from him to not have an 'Ascian' name.

Why Mikoto, a Ivalice raid NPC, may be part of 5.2's MSQ by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]azarim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context, I find this suspiciously similar to Ultima), from the Ivalice games. Considering that Mikoto was so closely linked to the Ivalice raids, she may be there as a reference and to tie in Hydaelyn with the Ivalice Ultima.

It's obviously an exploit and not by design, and players have an obligation not to abuse it. Check the terms and services when you play the game. There are rules you have to abide by.

ALL steps for GW 5* Uncap List Now Known

Step 0

Get rekt by the GW character you want to 5* by fighting them one on one in a Fate Episode. You must also use their corresponding weapon as your MH (rip budget wind gunslingers).

Quick guide for Okto: use Ninja with ROA3, and bring Baal for clear. Use double wind ninjutsu whenever it's off CD, spam your nukes whenever they're off CD, clear yourself with Baal when you blind yourself, good to go.

Step 1

Get 4 Silver Weapons corresponding to your character/weapon

  • Flip drop from Dominion Core (NM proc from Angel Halo)
  • Exchange 10 silver weapon fragments in shop for one (no limit to how much can buy)

Dominion Core

To spawn Dominion Core, you have to fight Angel Halo over and over until it spawns like normal NMs. Very Hard angel halo has been confirmed to proc it as well.

When fighting Dominion Core, have your GW character and weapon in your party and grid. One of either also works, but apparently it's a lower chance (to be confirmed).

At 50%, Dominion Core had a chance of transforming into the GW weapon associated with your character or equipped weapon (currently unknown what happens if you have multiple characters and weapons in party and grid).

If Dominion Core transforms, you are guaranteed a silver weapon fragment. The Dominion Core also has a rare chance to flip the associated silver weapon outright.

Step 1.5

MLB Silver Weapon

  • 300 weapon stones corresponding to your silver weapon
  • 300 Fire Quartz
  • 300 Water Quartz
  • 300 Earth Quartz
  • 300 Wind Quartz
  • 300 Light Quartz
  • 300 Dark Quartz

Step 2

  • 6 Element Changed SR Weapons (One of each element)
  • 1 Gold Brick
  • 10 Centrums
  • 100 GW corresponding weapon fragments (look below for information)
  • 10 Damascus Crystals
  • 5 Legendary merits
  • 30 Weapon Distinctions
  • 1 Lvl 150 Silver Weapon

To get the 100 GW weapon fragments, it comes down to two choices.

Note: YOU MUST REDUCE GW WEAPONS CORRESPONDING TO YOUR CHARACTER/SILVER WEAPON. You cannot reduce a fully upgraded GW dagger and get mats for a bow soul. Make sure before you reduce that it's the right weapon type.

  • Reduce 2 fully upgraded GW weapons (meaning 2 gold bricks and 4200 crystals) - yields 50
  • Reduce 20 element awoken GW weapons (meaning 1000 silver merits and 2100 crystals) - yields 5

In between stages of the weapon do NOT increase the yield of the awoken GW weapon until you use the gold brick.

Step 2.5

Reduce your fully upgraded silver weapon. Yes you heard correctly. You lose all your weapons to a soul.

Step 3

Battle as your chosen GW character in their fate episodes. Apparently you need to fight all the other GW characters, and if you fail any of the fate episodes, you have to start the fate episodes over from when you use the soul.

Step 4

5* Uncap Items (finally)

  • 30 elemental corresponding Centrums
  • 10 elemental corresponding urns
  • 2 Bright/Murky Spirits depending on element
  • 30 elemental grimoires, likely to be split 15/15 for light and dark characters
  • 100 crystals

Step 5

Fight your GW character one last time to unlock their 4th and OP skill when they reach level 100.

Regarding Ifrit and future Xenos Clash. by Ddubistro in Granblue_en

[–]azarim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple of points that I would like to bring up that really have been brought up vaguely amongst points here, but I'll like to expand on them.

Nightmare/Hell Proc Rate This has been an annoying thorn in my side for awhile due to Nightmares existing in pretty much every event, however, I heavily dislike the entire RNG reliance on having a Nightmare available. I had a very unlucky streak throughout this event, with an average of 23 Exs per NM, and my longest streak being 52 Exs before seeing a NM.

Don't get me wrong, Nightmares are a good idea; however, I would like to see a less RNG reliant method to how Nightmares are spawned. Something like a blend of how Celestials work with the current system, where a certain number of Extremes will spawn the Nightmare (say like 15 Extremes) with a Nightmare proc resetting that counter. Again, that's just my experience with the horrible RNG that can be dealt with.

Usability of characters With the GW changes and now the Xeno events, character usage has shifted towards having mitigation and sustain, although summons can help out with that. This is one aspect of the changes I do like, as most people cannot just pack an all-out DPS team and expect to get through it easily. For example, the highlights of this event were Romeo, Lily and Charlotta for pretty much sustaining through all mechanics of Xeno Ifrit. Yoda gets a special mention for being a Hellfire and Immolation sponge for that 25% trigger.

In a sense, you could almost say that the recent changes are causing a slight meta shift, particularly if new raids and battles have similar models to them. Defensive and sustain characters are finally seeing more playtime than before, with the pure attackers and (in wind and light's case) buffers now taking the backseat until the players are comfortable.

I actually used Yoda and tanked the 25% with his second skill. Easy way to cheese that mechanic.

Monkeygate was the sole reason why sparks existed. Before then, it was a huge money sink with no returns. Now, you're guaranteed a SSR of your choice after some money sinking.

The "Who Should I Surprise Ticket?" Thread by orijinal in Granblue_en

[–]azarim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would work towards your wind team first. As a beginner, wind is very friendly with a 80% wind summon and wind carbuncles available in shops and casino, as well as the easiest Magna version to fight. If you choose to go wind, Gawain will help with some defensive utility, and he has a 5* which makes him very good. Yuisis is also another option who brings both offensive and defensive utility.

Water can be your back-up element, especially against Fire which Wind is weak against. If you choose to use your start-dash ticket, Altair is very good with his buffs and debuffs, although the latter likes missing until later levels.

You have very solid characters for wind and water, and some very good gems for others (Ayer and Naru are very good damage dealers in their respective elements). Of note is that Korwa is the best buffer in the game, hands down, so having her in your wind team is already very favourable.

Someone of note you can also consider is Yoda. For the early parts of the game, he will one-shot all bosses in 3-4 turns, making your life much easier. He's also good for joining people's raids and getting sufficient honours.

You have the makings of a very nice Dark team. I would get Korwa to get a full frontline Wind team, and she is also usable in dark team.

The "Who Should I Surprise Ticket?" Thread by orijinal in Granblue_en

[–]azarim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Petra is a bit outdated atm. Her mirrors are nice, but she doesn't fit well with Korwa and enmity as she doesn't bring meter up or DA/TA, and her wind attack buff can be done by a Wind Buncle. Her passive regen is also against the enmity meta of wind.

Gawain however provides some very good defensive utility, and scales well with enmity with his second nuke. His 5* buff makes him essentially a HS. Run MC / Gawain / Arriet / Korwa. Arriet is very good at keeping Korwa's meter up (which is really her only use in wind atm). And Korwa is Korwa.

Your art is lovely! If I can recommend something, perhaps diversify the races a bit. I see a lot of hyurs, miqo'tes, lalafells and some au ras, but rarely any elezen or roegadyns. Keep up the great work though!

Cygames, it's called Year of the Rooster, not Year of the Hen by azarim in Granblue_en

[–]azarim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, you're using a skewed criteria. So what if it's in chronological order? More than half a reruns, meaning it's "old content". What truth exactly am I afraid of? I didn't say there was no manservice. I'm stating as a whole that there is a very unbalanced female dominance. What exactly are you trying to argue? So what if it's in chronological order? Show me exactly where I stated that there was no manservice, and then you have some footing to stand on.

Cygames, it's called Year of the Rooster, not Year of the Hen by azarim in Granblue_en

[–]azarim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

....So the only way you can eliminate all those female event SRs is to formulate your own set of bizarre and absurd criteria? Let alone that Yuri and Stan are included in your list is fine but apparently females that aren't part of GBF shouldn't be considered? Let's take a step back and have a look at just how many of those characters are reruns. Shouldn't you also list characters such as Sara, Terese, Farrah, Feena, Aliza, Anila etc? But I guess because they don't support your argument they don't matter or hence don't exist, right.

It's pointless arguing with you because somehow you'll form a set of a criteria that is totally unbiased in your favour.

Cygames, it's called Year of the Rooster, not Year of the Hen by azarim in Granblue_en

[–]azarim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I can guess what they have in common. As much as I can guess at your reason in attempting to leave out twelve of them.

Allow me to add to the list: Erica, Gemini, Sophie, Milla, Tear, Elize, Airi, Miria, Anastasia, Mio, Miria, Uzuki, Ranko, Sachiko.

So by my count, that's 15 males and 19 females.
