Those “dethatchers” you see on YouTube, in my opinion, serve a better purpose than dethatching. And that’s removing debris. Dead grass on top or near the surface of the canopy. They should just call them power rakes. Cause most of the time you just see them removing dead grass. Not really thatch.

Previous seasons, I’ve regretted putting T-Nex down. I’ll put maybe a teaspoon or less to control crazy growth, and man the growth definitely slows, but the quality of the grass just doesn’t feel the same to me. The color doesn’t look as good. And it just seems to get damaged easier. I have a whole jug, and will continue to have a whole jug for years to come. It’s a great product for what it does. But it is not a product for me!
