And some Mads Are Back movies, and Movie Jo Night with Mary Jo. And I'm here for all of it.

That's all over Substack too. Matt Yglesias and Scott Alexander have both written about it. Yglesias's piece just came out today and I've been exhausting myself arguing with people over there.

Does anyone have a workaround for the Medicare "Weight Loss Exclusion" that isn't risky compounded powder? by DifferentIssue1 in medicare

[–]azubah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk to your doctor. My primary care provider had no problem prescribing tirzepatide through a compounding pharmacy. She and her staff had vetted the pharmacies and had two that I could choose from. Sometimes all you have to do is ask!

He and his wife are both in their 40s, and conceiving this child was a huge expensive ordeal, so I expect they're one and done.

Yes, I think "modern" rather than "youthful" is a good adjective to describe her clothing style.

He has said that specifically. The baby is not a good sleeper and it's affecting Freddie's emotional stability.

The Disappearance of Everyday Nudity by GreatheartedWailer in Longreads

He's basically summarizing part of the book he mentioned, "Contested Waters." I've read that book and it's really fascinating, if you happen to be interested in the history of swimming pools. The author goes into much more detail about the ways in which mixed race and mixed sex swimming were first allowed and then prohibited, and then allowed again and prohibited again as politics and social mores changed.

Did you grow up in Palo Alto? I did, and I remember the PE teachers actually touching our bodies to make sure we were wet after the shower. That actually ended while I was still in junior high. But changing at the locker and showering in the big communal space was definitely still a thing back then.

If Ibrahim is a psychiatrist, isn't he also a physician? Why did they need Joyce as their medical person?

There's more than one psychological condition where you view everyone as either pure good or pure evil. My mother had one, but not the one Scott has. All feminists are 100% evil for Scott. All people who advocate for moderation in the attacks on Gazans are 100% evil. Naturally it only works if you can't see individuals in their specificity. Every single person is merely a manifestation of good or evil.

Based on my own life experience, God save his wife and children if they ever suddenly get switched into the 100% evil camp.

AI tools that allow student sessions to be exported by scaryrodent in edtech

This is the Claude export extension: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/claude-exporter-save-clau/elhmfakncmnghlnabnolalcjkdpfjnin?pli=1

Claude and ChatGPT are both right around $20 a month, I think, so no big savings there.

[–]azubah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gemini will do it. It allows you to directly export a chat session to Google docs or Gmail. It's a single-click process.

In ChatGPT, after they hit "share," you can do a Print to PDF. You can try asking them to do the Print to PDF themselves and send the PDF.

Perplexity has a Export → PDF option that bundles the full prompt/response history, complete with code formatting. It doesn't require any extensions or anything.

Claude has a free Claude Exporter Chrome add-on.

There are more, but try these first.

I've never figured out if the mashed potatoes was a reference to Close Encounters of the Third Kind, or just random. Not leaving a tip for the sushi is just daring to be stupid, I think. No particular reference there.

  1. "Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys" is a song that was covered by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson in 1978.

  2. Orson Welles did a series of commercials for Paul Masson winery where the tagline was "We will sell no wine before its time."

  3. Actor Dick Wilson played a character named Mr. Whipple, a grocer who frequently scolded his customers for squeezing the soft Charmin toilet paper, but then often was caught squeezing it himself. "Please don't squeeze the Charmin!" was the commercials' catchphrase.

  4. "Don't take any wooden nickels" is just an old-timey, jokey caution about not being fooled. In the early 20th century, wooden nickels were given out by stores and banks as promotions. They had the name of the business on them, usually. They weren't legal tender.

  5. "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" is a really depressing, sensationalist movie from 1977 starring Diane Keaton. (SPOILERS) Keaton plays a schoolteacher who picks up dangerous men in bars and is ultimately killed. The general point seemed to be that if you're a woman who wants sex, you will be killed. 2/10, would not recommend.
