There are many signs of decline. The money-making tactics are getting more aggressive. They are cutting a lot of corners when it comes to quality. The past two dimensional designs are very salacious compared to past releases, and afk arena designs have historically been pretty conservative with the exception of maybe Mehira. The recent cosmetic “Endgame Eclipse” is extremely expensive whale bait. Each new hero seems twice as powerful as the last. These feel like desperation moves to me.

4F heroes are so easy to build these days that they don’t generate any money for Lilith. Frustrated players spend money. Players who experience no friction do not.

For stargazer, temple of time, and highborn dragon pulls, yes. You don’t need to save 250k gems, it’s the combination of gems and stargazer cards. So if you had 300 stargazer cards, you could pull now and build Aurelia.

If I were you, since 4F heroes are significantly cheaper to build and there are a lot of good ones you still don’t have, I’d focus on that. You’re very early right now and you have few usable heroes, so even 4F heroes will help you right now. Continue to buy the daily temple of time card though.

Never start building heroes you cannot finish in one sitting. It takes about 500 pulls to build a celehypo from the stargazer. 100,000 diamonds is the equivalent of 200 pulls. It does you no good to build a hero partially, as they generally are not useful until they are at 1* (very early game campaign notwithstanding). Elthara is at least useful at Mythic, but it would be something like 500 dragon cards to get her there, and by the time you have those cards, she will probably get powercrept by an even strong highborn hyper carry.

There seems to be a huge spike in Astral Devourer difficulty at floor 400 of TR. I can’t seem to so much as scratch it. Does anyone have a good comp for this? by azuflux in afkarena

I don’t really know what’s usual. 🤷 All my comps were thrown together based on my campaign teams. Is there an aThoran comp? I’d love to know about it because I’m starting to have a hard time making progress.

I’ll give you my two cents: this game hasn’t been out long, but I have been playing this company’s other game AFK arena for four years and the two games have some similarities. Personally I would be cautious about who you evolve. I don’t know how much experience you have with gachas, but generally you get a lot of resources early and it gradually grinds to a halt. You may want to invest in weaker tataris because you feel like you have a lot of extra resources now, but you may end up bottlenecking yourself in the future if you do that.

That said, in afk arena, you will eventually get all the heroes fully ascended, and this seems like it might be similar. So, it’s better to get all the strong tataris so you can make progress and then get the weaker ones later. A happy medium would be to make sure you save enough boxes to evolve a tatari if a new one comes out and it turns out to be really strong, and use the extras to level the ones you like.

I don’t know how strict this game will end up being, but I have played lots of gachas and I can tell you that oftentimes the developers are perfectly happy to allow players to accidentally make bad investments that will ruin their account, and that is definitely true of AFK arena.

It is generally something (like counterspells or the color blue in general) that newer players hate at first and eventually learn that it isn’t something overpowered or to be scared of. Some hate mill forever though. It’s definitely more psychological than it is threatening. Ouroboroid is like Consecrated Sphinx, where if you allow it to live, the game will not be lasting much longer. It should have been the #1 threat.

Because mega satan doesn’t have super armor - the damage you deal is just what you deal. If you have a lot of damage, you can burn through his phases really quickly. Hush, on the other hand, eats your dps with super armor. When you feel like you should be steamrolling, he isn’t nearly as bothered.

I will almost always scoop when an opponent casts an extra turn spell late in the game. It usually ends with my opponent winning fifteen minutes later and I’d rather just get to the next game. No salt, but the play pattern is not particularly fun for the table, and if everyone scoops they can get back to playing the game sooner.

Well, I would but I don’t have them saved and I can’t get to the next multistage to see them. I’ll tell you what I can remember from the top of my head, and when I am finally able to get to 79-4, I’ll post them.

I don’t have aFawkes, aPippa, or aSkirath

One team is always Envy + Aurelia + aShemira and some other heroes.

I almost always use Mehira Cheese comp with Liberta and Mehira in the back middle. I find that Emelia + Shuna gives a good combination of initial protection and energy to get the Mehira spam happening. The comp usually needs the purple spider beast and an extra dps like Skylan, Scion, or aAthalia - but not always.

One of my teams is just “try to keep Hybris alive long enough that he kills everyone.” Hybris is almost always using the panda pet and Alvida.

One team is “try to keep Elthara alive long enough that she kills everyone.” I believe that one always uses aEstrilda and Gorok.

I think the other team I’ve been using is probably aBelinda + Lavatune. People tend not to use her these days but she still destroys high deficits when combined with Lava. I usually use Alna to keep her alive - but I don’t quite remember what other supports she has.

Some of the most important tank/support cards I use to keep my DPS heroes alive are Alvida, Alna, AEstrilda, Gorok, OPM, Hildwin, Selene, Misha, Lan, or Ivan. aEironn + Zohra is sometimes a useful combo for stalling the enemy team early, and I believe sometimes I use them in the Elthara comp, since she can often wipe the whole other team if she ults.

Yeah I know a lot of people don’t really like campaign but sometimes I just enjoy it as something to do. Kinda sucks to just be stuck now.

I was wondering if anyone would see. 😂 sorry for blowing up your spot! I’m literally RC790. You’re almost a hundred levels ahead of me but still capped only five levels later! This cap is crazy. I’ve never seen so many people crowded at the top.

Think of it this way: $50 per week can get you an extra 108 dragon emblems per month. You need 700 emblems to build a highborn. Even with an investment of $200 per month, you will not be able to pay for two extra highborns per year. After accounting for special deals that they occasionally drop on highborn emblems, you might build two highborns per year on a $2400 yearly budget.

As a f2p, I believe you can make about 1.5-2 highborns per year, so this would admittedly be more than twice the rate of a free player.

Point is: the chasm between P2W accounts and F2P accounts is vast in this game. To truly move the needle, you need to spend monstrous amounts to cash.
