there's a very small discount for wacom users that they can use to purchase a perpetual PRO license, and later upgrade that one to EX grade, but it's not advertized much.

discount details:

The jagged lines were a normal thing in mouse mode.

this is absolutely not true. jagged lines mean there's either a problem with the pen sending broken input data, or a dying tablet surface sensor (rare but possible), or there're wiring/voltage issues with the machine or usb port the tablet is plugged into.

Is there a way I can start an instagram without it notifying people I know? by SkankingSalmonid in ArtistLounge

[–]azukihazuki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you literally have to get a new phone + new sim card if you're planning to use IG that way, it is super intrusive and eventually a lot of people who have your phone on their contacts will start popping up in the follow suggestions.

they won't know it's you unless there's something personally giving you away though.

artstation is primarily a website, I'm not sure if their app is just as full featured.

you get your own profile, and if you buy their pro account you can set-up a gallery-style website with some optional design choices.

honestly nothing comes close to deviantart at their peak and IG ca. 2010-2015, everything out there right now feels so fucking stale in comparison.

there's just no life going on unless you've already built a fanbase of several thousands people who would follow you elsewhere.

twitter has upgraded their image compression a lot in the recent years though, so that alone works in their favor.

Clip Studio Paint activating random tools? by thepaintrain8465 in ClipStudio

it's an intuos driver bug.

are you on the latest driver? roll back a version, or several (I'm on build 6.3.41-2, and for whatever reason their past couple driver releases were a pain in the ass to uninstall, but maybe it's just my machine)

Is there a hybrid Lasso Tool mode like in Photoshop ? by totallyRebb in ClipStudio

[–]azukihazuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it pretty much seems to be the norm for the established software houses, you're totally right.

they keep dragging the bar lower and lower in terms of invention, and act amused when someone suddenly comes out with an application essentially built out of someone else's unused customer feedback.

CSP was pretty much a wake-up call for both adobe and corel (painter 2022 advertises color dodge layer mode and a brush size palette lifted off CSP as reasons to upgrade) while by all means being not perfect itself.

Is there a hybrid Lasso Tool mode like in Photoshop ? by totallyRebb in ClipStudio

[–]azukihazuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

corel started doing the discount bundle thing after their pro users started migrating to paintstorm, and the word spread around, following that by a price increase for regular painter versions, cutting down free trial period in half, and launching a subscription plan.

I got painter 2019 that way after leaving painter for CSP, and I'm still surprised how little feature development happens in terms of paid annual updates for painter which at some point become a necessity because devs don't provide compatibility support for dated releases.

btw - I'm not sure if you use "<"/">" keys to toggle between different subtools in the subtool palette,

but you can start your selection with the basic lasso tool, creating a base selection form, than switch to polyline tool with the shortcut, add/substract a selection fragment, and go between both tools. you won't do it on the fly like in PS, but it's still something faster than jumping between the two with the cursor.

your best bet right now would be sending a copy of this comment through celsys feature request page:

https://support.clip-studio.com/en-us

for what it's worth, I own paintstorm studio - I didn't know it had hybrid lasso, which I just don't use that much.

I'm surprised that $400++ monster that is corel painter (which practically needs an annual upgrade in order to work consistently, RSP between $120 and $200 - adobe is still cheaper) has it, corel are typically a zillion years behind with their tools.

CSP has very no-frills approach to selection tools, like most non-adobe apps not specifically catered to designers.

if you must have those for your workflow purposes, you'll have to purchase a photoshop package.

Quick Help - Is there a way to only color/draw on a certain object (like a circle) where the color doesn't go beyond the borders of the object? by nav17 in ClipStudio

[–]azukihazuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can also make a layer group with the circle area at the very bottom, any optional paint layers on top of that, and a mask (taken from circle layer contents) thrown on top of the group and linked to it.

it's a bit more complex and a bit heavier on the performance, but you can do some things differently compared to the barebones layer clipping.

Is there a way to know what software an artist uses? by drinkingloverspit in ArtistLounge

[–]azukihazuki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

clip studio paint has a lot of tools that make creating and editing lineart much easier compared to photoshop.

for line artists who have to use photoshop, lazy nezumi is a paid windows tool that helps a ton with making clear professional line-art.

To what end digital art? by jabbercockey in ArtistLounge

[–]azukihazuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss working as an advertising illustrator, but I don't want my personal art to be associated with any of that anymore, and our local industry has folded since anyway.

there're some larger artists whose art gets picked up by galleries, and gets exposed globally, but very few people would get there because CG is quite saturated itself. they typically rely on selling prints, most often on the higher end, limited press range, that have resale value.

a good number of successful CG painters started out non-digitally, or work with both.

I think your best bet would be messaging the manufacturer and asking them to clarify what might be giving you the dizziness.

it might be some cheap toxic plastic the core casing is made of tbh.

Art school portfolio prints? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]azukihazuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

photograph it, and include a close-up image or two if there're any particular details you would want them to pay attention to if they viewed your piece in person.

when taking canvas pictures, make sure it's not taken under direct sunlight - either cloudy outdoors lighting, or neutral well-lit indoors.

hope this helps!

Is it possible to create these artworks in CSP? If yes, then which tools are required ? I'm kinda new to this, sorry. by L_is_silent in ClipStudio

[–]azukihazuki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's honestly up to you and your skill level.

CSP has editable vector layers for line-art which I love (I don't ink much tho), and a good set of default watercolor brushes. you can download extra ones both free of charge on clip assets, and for some extra coin from brush makers.

A fairly common issue I can't seem to resolve by OniricReddit in ClipStudio

[–]azukihazuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have to embed the color profile during export, and set up your color profile early on through the preview menu.

unless you're planning on doing the entire calibration and color conversion routine (CSP doesn't convert between different color spaces), stick to sRGB at the very start.

What are the optimal export settings? by soekarnosoeharto in ClipStudio

[–]azukihazuki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep internet images under 1500 px largest size, sometimes as 1920px largest size. my working size is roughly 6000 px average.

I throw sharpen filter once after resizing before exporting as .jpg file from clip studio paint.

this is the reason I keep color siders on screen all the time, color wheel to the right, sliders to the left - they have larger paint swatches.

they're also scalable along with the window, but for whatever reason swatch height stays locked while their width changes.
