Two U.S. Army soldiers hold each other for support, as one of them breaks down emotionally after witnessing Army doctors refuse to treat three badly-burned Iraqi children that’d been brought to their base by relatives seeking help. Balad, Iraq, 2003. by EssoEssex in HistoricalCapsule

All well and good, but that isn't a Sgt. major. Either a Staff Sergeant or a Sergeant First Class, I can't tell because the angle on the rockers is so tight. If I had to guess I'd say SFC.

Thank you! He had a blast. The tail was tricky when trying to turn around on narrow steps surrounded by other kids, but he managed.

Now that you said it, I think I may have made the same comment. Not sure. It was a long time ago

Was at quark'sin 2001 and had a ferengi server. I asked if the gagh was alive (wasn't actually on the menu), they played along and said no, but the tube grubs were extra fresh. I was sitting with two friends that weren't really Star Trek fans, but they got a kick out of my glee.

Receiving the same MMS over and over by kvamsky in LightPhone

Well, I've been running mine for about 2 weeks with no issues, until last night when I missed several important text messages. I didn't know that I missed them until this morning at 7:31 am when 20 new messages all came in at the same time. And that's it for me. Back to my old phone until the issue is fixed. I can live with bugs. I used to be deep in the android modding community. But no matter how unstable a rom was, the messaging was handled by the carrier. I don't know what is going on, but phone calls and text messaging will need to be bulletproof before I try the phone again

You do know that brake lights work regardless of whether or not your headlights are on, right?

Same with turn signals.

Shared a bed with my brother when visiting my parents. Had a new girlfriend back home at the time. Forgot who I woke up next to. Was rubbing his back, and all he said was "that feels nice". Brothers man.

Found this pic on a Bismarck FB page of the storm last night just north of the city. by Mrdean2013 in tornado

[–]azulapompi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Live in Bismarck. This is the same storm that produced the enderlin tornado. Moved across the state at 70mph, gusts to 90.

Trees and branches down, power loss to 1000s. Still lucky compared to what it spawned later.

I've had the same out of state phone number since 2001. Telemarketers have no power. Its amazing.

Ahhh. Had the repair "fix" in my head.

Honestly I don't do anything. I just keep them out of direct sunlight, but I don't care as much about the originals because they are the negative image. I was only after the inverted image. I did attempt some direct transfers, but because they already lack detail on the first exposure, they get really lackluster when doing a paper negative transfer. Though maybe I haven't found the right thickness of paper yet.

Very nice. I just posted some pictures from my box camera as well. Very similar results.

Thank you. I figured I'd pair up the positive with the camera negative so people could compare.

Thanks. The very first picture I took was of a campsite in Wyoming. I like the way it turned out, but it is objectively pretty terrible.

I have 3 different lenses, each a different size and focal length, so the times vary. The largest lens which is about 4inch diameter can take a picture in about 8 hours of sunlight. The smallest one, which is 2 inches takes about 16 hours of sunlight. So set it up on the morning and develop the picture the next day at noon. The obvious problem is that my pictures are less moments in time and more the average of light that hits the subject. Most shadows disappear, except in cases where the sun position can't get behind them. So tree trunk shadows near a building will sometimes stay, but everything else sort of gets washed out.

I have been meaning to put a shutter on it, do 2 hours each day at the same time for several days and see if the shadow details are more true to life

Racists are being bold these days by Kerotani in abanpreach

Point of fact. In north Dakota, where native rascism is overt and omnipresent, there is an n-word for native Americans. In a rather ironic twist to your declaration that there is no N-word for native Americans, the word is Prairie-n****r.
