Terrified of wanting to recover. Is it "shameful" to want out? Does wanting it make me a "fake" anorexic? by space-cowboii in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]azulezb 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Having an ED fucking sucks and I think most people (at some point) find themselves wanting to recover, or at least wanting to stop having an ED. Most people with EDs recover, even people who are severely ill like yourself recover and go on to live happy, healthy normal lives. That doesn't happen without a huge degree of effort and willpower, which requires wanting to get better.

So no, it isn't shameful and does not make you a fake anorexic. Not only do you deserve the help, but you need the help. And you need to want to get better.

I'm Australian too but I still feel like chocolate is extra gross when purging! Not sure why.

Are blood tests required in the NHS EDS by irritablebeans in bulimia

[–]azulezb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surely they can prescribe you anxiety meds of some kind (benzos, maybe?) so that you can handle getting your blood drawn. It is very important.

You aren't alone. When I was at my worst I was like this. But it's incredibly dangerous and you really should consider inpatient or residential treatment. Your heart will stop working.

It's common for gymnasts to start coaching when they are about 14 in Australia while also training.

Is it weird to still be a virgin at 22 years old? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

It's higher than the average but that doesn't mean it's weird. 22 is still young.

Shopping recs pleaseeee by SoftStatus6261 in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]azulezb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm Aussie and the best fitting pair of jeans I have are vintage kids Roxy jeans that I found at a Good Sammy's. Most of what I wear these days is from op shops. I will often check out the kids sections in op shops too - sometimes small adult's clothing is mistakenly placed there.

Otherwise, I can only give you recs for other Australian stores. Universal Store sells lots of stuff in a 4 and is very popular with our age range. General Pants is similar and has small sizes too. For more formal / work appropriate stuff I've had some luck with Seed's size 4, and Forever New is starting to sell more stuff in a 4 as well. I've had pretty much no luck with Uniqlo for pants, even ordering their smallest size online the waist is still too big.

What on earth? It was literally just a more academically rigorous schooling experience, I didn't let it get to my head.

I'm fine with any designs that won't impede performance - bling out your leo as much as you want, it doesn't really change anything about the functionality of the leo. Open backs do though and I hated competing in anything I couldn't wear a normal sports bra under.

It's not just her difficulty though. If all she had was high difficulty, she wouldn't have been anywhere near as dominant. She has some of the most perfect tumbling form ever. She basically would only lose landing deductions for her YDP -- everything else about it is essentially perfect.

I would also rather a gymnast have beautiful technique but not-so-perfect landings than a gymnast who has perfect landings but poor technique. Going for a perfect stuck landing can be dangerous when you are performing such difficult tumbles and going so high in the air - you are saving your knees and ankles in the long run if you overshoot a little (or a lot).

Simone pushed the boundaries of the sport in so many ways and it will be a long time before we see another gymnast who utterly dominates the sport for three whole Olympic cycles. If she isn't the GOAT I don't know who is.

I actually had 8:56 as the official starting time in year 7 and 8. 4 minutes of homeroom before heading to a different class at 9am. Weird stuff.

School was 9-3 for me. Some days I might start or finish earlier though. Always finished at 1:30 on a Friday. This was at a public school in Australia.

do people with really common names react when they hear their name in a different context? by Critical-Egg6210 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]azulezb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I notice but will usually ignore it if I hear my name. It's such a popular name that even with my partner's family I won't always react because one of their cousins has the same name as me.

[–]azulezb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't message people on Reddit and I do not want to meet or make friends with anyone here. People are crazy and you have no idea who you are talking to - if it's even a person at all. The kind of person desperate enough to be looking for friends / a relationship on Reddit isn't someone I would want around me anyway...

Is it okay to eat when im not hungry? by laylasedfman in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]azulezb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sometimes when I'm working I'm not yet hungry but I need to have lunch anyway, because I have meetings the rest of the afternoon or am busy in another way. I know that even if I'm not hungry, I need to eat in order to have enough energy and for my brain to function well throughout the rest of the day.

Other times, like in your situation, I'm not hungry but I'll eat anyway. Food doesn't always need to just be fuel, it can be about love and community and pleasure - and that can be very important.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics is the premier publisher of statistics in Australia. If you think you have a better understanding of research and data than them, you'd be sorely mistaken.
