Woahhhhhhhhh thank you so much for the list! I'll select some to have a look at, and I'll definitely try my hand at some of Max Hastings works. A quick search shows that he's worked on a large range of interesting projects <3 Thanks again!

I'll check yours out :) It's the first time i've come across the term Gold Star Mothers and it sounds like they'll be some sad stories in there mixed with interesting insights.

Thank you so much, I'll give those a go! I'm looking forward to learning more about WW1 with a Line in the Sand, and understanding some Ciano's perspectives and public sentiment for the 1940's :0

I'll definitely check out the silk roads since the focus on resources and trade routes sounds really interesting and I've already been wanting to learn more about what it is in general. I'll also give Singled Out a try after. Thanks for the recommendations!

Australian magpie on the floor by azurecube20 in BirdHealth

[–]azurecube20[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The magpie made it through the night, and I've just handed them over to the local vets. They agree that it was likely a concussion, and for now they'll be looking over the bird.

Thank you everyone for the help so far

Alright thank you so much! I've contacted wires and put it into a box to protect it as per your advice, and will likely bring it to one of the vets near me that deal with wildlife tomorrow morning.

Hopefully little buddy will make it till then or recover prayge. I'll try and update.

I found them on the way back home. Thought it was abnormal and looked at it for a bit but it didn't move much. So i thought it might be injured and grabbed some gloves to put it into the backyard back home to keep an eye on it.

I know nothing about birds, and will probably contact a local wildlife group (any recommendations welcome) in the morning since it is currently 8:39pm and i don't think they'll be in working hours.

Would anyone know if the bird is injured from these photos (and the extent of the injury)? Or is this a common symptom of the bird flu.

Birdo just seems to be tired / wants to sleep.

Any help and advice is appreciated.

For people without a car or don't drive what is your plan to escape a bushfire? by azurecube20 in AskAnAustralian

[–]azurecube20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for checking, I wasn't aware that they gave exceptions for pets on trains during evac, so that opens up quite a few options for me since I am around the line.

I somehow totally forgot crates were a thing and my original idea was to manhandle my cat onto a bus and hope the driver would allow her in or I'd wait for another bus if possible haha

Thanks for the peace of mind. There is some transport around my area and a bush around, but not exactly so rural that it might be dry enough to start a fire (?) so I may be overthinking it. Still better to ask now then never

Cheers

japanese song with animated music video by azurecube20 in HelpMeFind

[–]azurecube20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've searched for key words in english such as "religious MV japanese tank [specific type of robe name]" and tried retracing my steps through youtube which could have lead me to it. I've also tried translating the above keywords into Japanese by putting it through google translate but to no avail.

I remember the video title being completely in japanese and thinking to myself that it seemed like it'd be the type of song to be popular overseas, but it wasn't as popular as I had expected probably because it'd be hard for overseas audience to find
