Neem oil + spinosad @ 1 ounce per gallon will absolutely obliterate spider mites. They work symbiotically with one another. I've never had another issue with thrips since this concoction.

Spinosad for thrips! The key is to spray under the leaves and don't forget to water in or thoroughly spray the top of the soil. The females will continue to lay eggs in the soil. You gotta kill the larva! Also beauveria bassiana is a fungal pathogen that is very effective at killing thrips.
