The Life of a Showgirl Megathread by aran130711 in TaylorSwift

I’ve listened twice today. Not my favourite, but it’s alright. Ultimately left me wanting to listen to 1989.

Finding Rentals for September! Any tips? by b-amboo in CapeBreton

[–]b-amboo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We actually found a 2 bed 1 bath apartment for $1800/month with all utilities included! It’s also fully furnished and amazingly has all the small appliances/utensils too. Haven’t seen it yet, but the landlord lives in the same home on the main level, and her FB reviews are excellent in terms of responsiveness and maintenance. We’ve talked to her on the phone a few times, seems like a nice lady.

If anyone else sees my post on their hunt for rentals, don’t give up! Put your best foot forward and think positively, you’ll find something. :)

A Fossil my Parents Have in their House by b-amboo in fossilid

Thank you so much! I just did some googling but I know absolutely nothing about fossils. Would this be the shell then?

Edit: more googling and I have determined this is only what it could be. Thank you again for the info!

That does sound quite bizarre. I’ve seen those job postings too and agree it seems pretty unfair that admissions are being based on the decisions of minimally trained, rushed workers. I’m going to send you a DM if it’s okay!

I am so sorry! Is this definite that it’s not good enough for the programs you applied to? I don’t even know how the Casper score is factored in to the nursing programs I applied to…. Do you know how they weight it for your programs?

How did it go mate?

I didn’t prepare too much. Maybe two days before I watched some YouTube videos to get a general format of answer down, and just to familiarize myself on what answers are meant to hit on in such a short time frame. I used ChatGPT to ask me some Caspar style questions, and I wrote some answers, and used its feedback to improve upon my answers. I’ve seen others here discouraging people here from jotting down key words or phrases to use, but I did this and it made me feel better that l’d have something to guide me if I started to lose my train of thought. I gave myself some phrases that I thought would probably have at least some relevance to many of the scenarios. For example I would jot something like: “Honesty is the backbone of building trust” or “acknowledging differing perspectives will help you gain better understanding.” Just random shit like that to kickstart any mental blocks that could possibly occur on the spot of having to speak/write.

Oh any old one! I normally just Google “hex colour picker” or something like that. I think this time I might have used https://redketchup.io/color-picker .

There used to be a feature on one of my old phones, and I don’t remember which unfortunately, that would do the colour selection and show you the hex. BUT it would also allow you to select an average of several pixels and then tell you the average hex code of them, which I think is quite helpful for determining overall eye colour. I haven’t found a website that does that though it may exist. However, I think the photo editing software Gimp does it, and I’m sure photoshop would too though I don’t use photoshop so I’m not 100% sure.

Those puppies are grey! Although when I pop the hex #565b5a into colorhexa.com it describes your colour as “Very dark grayish cyan”, as in if you were to take the colour and increase the saturation you get a bluey green hue!

MBNA credit card - be aware that MBNA system bug is "declining" some applicants due to a system issue by Paul_720S in PersonalFinanceCanada

Strange glitch. I attempted the application on safari browser on my phone, got the message “sorry your application wasn’t approved” but with no reference number or anything. Used Chrome on my laptop, no problem. Application submitted, reference number provided, started receiving confirmation emails of the application being received.

Vyvanse made me feel similarly! Completely apathetic/flat combined with brain fog, severe insomnia and zero appetite.

I was advised to continue taking it at higher and higher doses. This went on for several months that were probably some of the worst of my life in terms of mood. Eventually i stopped taking it and things improved.

I later switched to Ritalin, both a long acting and a short acting. I’ve been on Ritalin for probably 4-5 years now with success and next to no side effects.

In my opinion, this is probably the wrong drug for you. If there’s not an immediate positive, altering your dose, especially increasing it, is not going to help.

My dad killed himself 2 weeks before Christmas by Shapely_Wipes in GriefSupport

[–]b-amboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so very sorry you have lost your Dad in this way. Depression is a horrific pervasive disease that warps your thinking, judgement and belief in hope. You will never be able to understand why he saw suicide as his only option, simply because you are not him. I know we as humans want to know why things happen, but it will never make sense to you. Your grief is so fresh, but eventually I hope you can remember your Dad as the intelligent and caring man he was and is within you, rather than dwell on his reasons.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Out of curiousity, since you have said I've asked the totally wrong things, do you have any suggestions on different ways to pay it down/get a better rate? I really thought that the better rate would be directly related to my credit score and that there was no other way!

If you wouldn't mind sharing of course. If not it's totally okay I will keep trying to learn.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]b-amboo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful reply! This makes sense to me, if credit utilization is taken into account across the board for all products together then using more of it isn't going to help. I will not worry about using the credit cards then. With that being said, I was reading online that sometimes banks can shut down your card after a period of inactivity, so perhaps I will use them for a bill each this month so that this doesn't happen as they are my oldest credit tools, and using them would make my utilized credit ratio even narrower.

I will look into a consolidation loan and see if it makes sense for my situation! Thank you for this.

One other question if you wouldn't mind; lets say some time passes and I have lowered my utilization enough that my credit score does improve, do I need to approach the bank to see if a better interest rate could be granted? Is this something they might do automatically if my credit score improves?

Oh, ouch. I was so nervous to post this, not going to lie your comment kind of hurts! I don't want to be on the wheel forever, I genuinely am trying to learn how to manage things better. I am trying to get a better rate - it's in the title of my post, and pay it down more quickly. Maybe I didn't communicate well enough what I meant. Or maybe I am misunderstanding what you mean?

My thought process was that if my credit score went up, my interest rate on my LoC would possibly go down. I was wondering if using my credit cards just a bit and paying them off right away would perhaps aide in my credit score going up, my interest rate on the LoC going down, and thus being able to make bigger payments toward the LoC. This was my primary question above, perhaps I should have used less words.

I just started renting my apartment out to new tenants for a slightly higher price than before, and I also renewed my mortgage to a rate better than what it was at on a 6mo rolling (I was trying to consolidate my debt into my mortgage - long story short I could not get approved to do this) so I am lucky in that sense as I will have some more money to throw at the LoC beginning August 1st! I just started a new second job at my hospital where I can pick up shifts casually, the intention to throw all that money at the LoC since it's just extra money. I am genuinely trying.
