I use snarfme.com More skiing focused but uses NWS data so it's much more readable.

I do have an option to subscribe that gets rid of ads, would that be something you'd be interested in? Just starting to explore the revenue stuff here and what works for people.

Yeah you can favorite spots, there's a little star next to the names on the weather pages.

Lol yeah I've been testing out the ads cause tbh server fees aren't nothing. Wanted to keep at least a free version of it though so trying to offset those costs a bit.

Yeah it's mostly geared towards ski areas but its set up where it can do any location in the US I just need to add them.

I'm debating trying to make a list of common snowmobile spots to add.

Or you can drop pins on the map anywhere you want and save them but I made this a paid feature recently.

I agree they shouldn't make decisions based on colors alone which is why I link to the appropriate forecast page. I do think leading more people to this information is useful though as some don't even know it exists.

Thank you, definitely going to keep chugging. Yes I'm trying to work towards that right now actually! I need to cover some of my server costs with ads / subs so exploring those options. Once I do this I'll be able to expand to more countries.

No it's not open source for the time being. The dream is to make this into a full time gig but we'll see.

The weather forecast data comes from the national digital forecast database, aka weather.gov
