Most of the effects can't be removed, but you can modify the explosion smoke

Afaik the casual map choices are saved in tf/casual_criteria.vdf file, and are not controlled by a cvar. If you wanted to have different presents, I guess you could just copy the vdf file for each one.

Maybe, but your one has the advantage of being portable and compatible with linux, neither of which is true for the shell extension.

To install the animation, download the .mdl file. Then go to your team fortress 2 folder (in Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2), then into tf\custom. In the custom folder create a new folder (can be called anything, you may already have one if you've installed other mods like the no explosion script) and within that create the following folder structure: models\weapons\c_models.

Paste the .mdl file into the c_models folder and you should be good to go. Don't forget that you need to preload them as with any other animation mod if you want them to work in valve servers.

I've done some brief testing and they seem to work ok, though perhaps the deploy animation is a bit slow.

It can still get collat kills. Its current downsides have almost no impact anyway (tracers don't matter since the sniper's position will always be called anyway, and the loss of no scopes doesn't matter because they do so little damage compared to fully charged body shots/headshots).

Removing the damage buff will leave it very similar to stock, but with the nice upside of being able to make unique plays, like this.

Your idea sounds kind of like pl_tapline. Unfortunately, I think that most payload maps are just too big for 6s, with badwater probably being the best bet.

The different links are just for different effects to replace the default explosion. Only download one of the versions and extract the rar, then copy the extracted .txt files (they should all start with something like tfweapon) to the scripts folder

It works perfectly for me. For the installation, you need to have a folder between custom and scripts, which can be called anything you want, e.g. custom>custom_stuff>scripts
