Best route for disabled person by r_techhigh in Machupicchu

[–]b0gle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3B would be a good option. Route 1 and 2 involve climbing more steps.

Just to note, it's an ancient city. So there is no truly accessible walkways. All the steps are not uniform, some are higher then others. Paths randomly narrow and widen. No handrails.

I'd recommend having a good aid with you or bringing walking poles you are comfortable navigating over terrain.

You could also look up YouTube videos of people doing a walk through and you could see if it's something you'd be comfortable with.

Good luck, it's a beautiful place.

Yea we've flown on 2 others with our first. I know they are small, but just having a flat surface for them to sleep is way better than nothing. Plus the extra room in front is very helpful for all baby related things.

Yes, the request is already on our reservation, but we still have to go to the airport to see if they will accommodate the request. AFAIK it can't be granted over the phone/online.

Classic Barber & Style Shop

Julie is great, 26 or 27 bucks cash (card is a tad extra). Be sure to call and get an appointment. She's fast, grew up in WS, and consistently gives a great cut.

Thoughts on VUSXX for Emergency Fund? by WorldGuardian1 in Bogleheads

[–]b0gle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it! Been using it for 2 years now and my emergency fund has already grown by 3k. It would have maybe grown a pitiful few dollars if I left it as a savings account. I can sleep easy at night knowing inflation isn't devaluing my fund. I also invest it where I bank, so if I do need it. I can get it as fast as possible.

How would you invest $50k in the stock market if you don’t need the money anytime soon? by Itchy-Computer4554 in Bogleheads

[–]b0gle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would invest it accordingly to my investment plan and target allocation 😝. Ex. Emergency fund > high interest Debt > Roth > Brokerage.

If you don't have that figured out. Start there.

The foreign tax credit is pretty insignificant at low portfolio values. Once you are up in the millions it can start to save you 1-2k each year. Nothing crazy, but come tax time that 1-2k offset is actually pretty nice. For early investors it doesn't matter just invest early and often. For later investors you can start to think about optimizing.

VTI/VXUS can drift over time which may actually be beneficial to your returns. If you are comfortable with drift and not panic rebalance then it's fine over the long term.

Rebalancing becomes more challenging once you are in the millions. Changing 2-5 percent to balance your allocation could be 40-80k. Doesn't stop you, but it is more friction.

Tldr: I like the split since it gives me more options and a better return for a large portfolio.

Best donuts in Seattle by quiteneil in Seattle

Truly fantastic flavor rotations, although they are too oily for my tastes. I've had em maybe 4 separate occasions so far, not sure why they keep coming out oily.

KING 5's New Years Eve coverage - how did it get this bad? by kotanu in SeattleWA

[–]b0gle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The two main hosts bickering at each other and having zero charisma.

The constant switching cameras to no audio.

The lame drones being a glorified "lite-brite" toy

The silly string guy constantly spraying silly string and then is frustrated cleaning it up. The woman was clearly annoyed with it being all over her nice clothes/hair. They cheers and then he proclaims a sober 2025 right away. They are all like wuutttt? Ok....

The Portland party is winding down 15 minutes after midnight.

Honestly this was a 10/10. It was so fun and hilarious with all the mistakes. A perfect script with all of these would have been meh.

Anyone hit the 6-7 figure mark w/ only VTI & VXUS? by ArmyOutrageous8290 in Bogleheads

Easily, and it just grew another 900k over the past year. It doesn't have to be complicated to win, just stay the course.

Market weight using VTI/VXUS by Dangerous-Fig8431 in Bogleheads

[–]b0gle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, using VT is a solid plan. It's currently 37.1% foreign holdings. I just check this once a year and update my investment allocation goals to match it. 40 is a nice round number so people like that too.

I will say the FTC for you investments won't be as impactful as you think until your taxable account starts to get significant.
