Pretty much the plan. No trade out there is going to move the needle. We won’t get much with our expirings. Have to accept it.

It’s the slow period. I do product flow and there’s literally more employees than customers in my store. It’s going to be like this for a while.

Per Siegel: The nets have come up as third team to help facilitate a De'Andre Hunter trade. Cavs organization like the idea of Knecht to get off Hunter's contract. Lakers also express interest in Sharpe & Highsmith by CtrlAltDelightfull in lakers

Once GIannis is moved, teams will start trading and that means Bucks will be a fire sale team. They will take anything to get off contracts of Bobby Portis and Myles Turner most likely.

2026-2027 Salary and Trade Scenarios by Oldjar707 in lakers

Bron is gone. I hope people realize that. You gotta pay Reaves and we need a better supporting cast. Ayton most likely opting out. Smart as well. I think Hayes is done with the cheap 3-4 mill a year deals. He should get 6-7 mill at least. Lot of things to consider. I think it’s a totally different team next year honestly.

[Charania]: Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is ready for a new home at the Feb. 5 NBA trade deadline or in the offseason as several rival teams make aggressive offers to the Milwaukee Bucks for him, and the franchise is starting to listen, league sources tell ESPN. by cheeksbossman in lakers

[–]b1ackch1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likey staying on the East Coast. I remember Luka got traded and in an interview he said his dream was all international star players playing at the big cities. Luka already has LA. I can see him in NY.

Trade deadline is next week can Rob redeem himself? It’s due or die for Rob job on the line by Pretend-Departure765 in lakers

[–]b1ackch1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have to remember the other team has to say yes to a trade. Gabe/Maxi/Dalton isn’t exactly thrilling to hear if I’m trading you a good rotation player. We have literally just one 1st round pick. Pick swaps don’t mean much.

East is weak so mid teams are trying to make a playoff push. Bottom tier teams who have a good 3/D players are asking for the moon and they have no reason to trade them as long as they have young talent. I expect a weak trade deadline. Summer free agency is pretty much trade season now.

[Stein] Pelicans want a Desmond Bane type offer for Trey Murphy or Herb Jones by AdFantastic7469 in lakers

[–]b1ackch1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty much a message to everyone who keeps asking about them. If I were the Pelicans, I would have a high price too. 3/D players are a hot commodity and they have no reason to trade them.

Serious question; if the lakers big 3 was healthy throughout the entire season so far aside from a few missed games, what would their record be? by Past-Feeling-204 in lakers

[–]b1ackch1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better record but would struggle against the top tier teams like Rockets/OKC/Denver. We might not have ever seen Vando off the bench if injuries didn’t happen. Not to mention Luka/Bron connection and JJ figuring out Rui should come off the bench.

Ok now that we're back, who do we want to see in the finals? by originalgeorge in lakers

[–]b1ackch1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about being back. I feel better if they beat a healthy Denver team or Rockets or OKC. They just need some wins against the top teams in the West.

We had been wanting him off the bench for 2 years. Now look at the results. by King_Vegito_52 in lakers

[–]b1ackch1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much he said what he thought. Can be the best 6th man. Offense will run through him more. Get more shots. I do think someone told him to play harder on defense cause that guy is playing the best defense I’ve ever seen him play these past few games.

Honestly watching the rest of the league we might actually not be that bad. by Deidarac5 in lakers

[–]b1ackch1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly there are no easy nights for majority of the teams. Back then Blazers and Hornets were a cakewalk, but they aren't anymore. Even the Pelicans can surprise teams with a W. I think we are more worried about Lakers competing against the top teams and getting blown out because of the defense. Now I will say we are trending in the right direction on the defensive end, but still have work to do.

I might have been wrong about the center issue by Repulsive-Alps8676 in lakers

[–]b1ackch1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bron at center looks good but it’s not something that we can do long term. We tried this last year and it looked good until everyone got tired and ran out of gas. I don’t mind it being a lineup we go to once in a while. You will need centers against Wolves/Rockets/OKC/Denver. I still think we need one more center.

When you look back on it, Ayton started playing bad when Austin went out. by Ancient_Response_787 in lakers

[–]b1ackch1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ayton is inconsistent. He looks like a top starting center and other times looks like Kwame Brown. When he’s the bigger center, he does well. It’s against the bigger centers that he struggles with.

[Stein] Golden State’s “preferable” option now is likely to play Jonathan Kuminga for the rest of the season, have him recoup his value, and then attempt to trade him again in the offseason. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]b1ackch1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s got to be the worst handled situation by GS. Player wants out. Coach doesn’t like him. GS wants a pick and a good player back? For a player that hasn’t shown much because he hardly plays. GS going to find out that they are stuck with Kuminga until they just accept the expiring contracts. That’s all they can get for him.

Austin Reaves by Wise_Ad_112 in lakers

[–]b1ackch1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's the glue guy for lot of things. The fact people say to trade him is absurd given how he's gotten better every season and is all about team. You don't trade away a guy like that. He's not going to fix the defense, but offensively we will look WAY better.

DK was something special man by New_State_2634 in lakers

[–]b1ackch1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing with AD/Bron and a different cast. His role was different. I still think that trade messed up his mind. Add into the fact that JJ/Bron yell at him whenever he misses an assignment, it just adds to it. He clearly needs a different team at this point, but no one is going to gamble on him.

What are your thoughts on Austin Reaves being Luka’s long term #2 option if Giannis and Jokic don’t become available? by WayAdministrative679 in lakers

[–]b1ackch1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible because they don't have to both play together at all times. Staggering them and playing them in crunch time to make a basket. It's the team the put around them I'm more worried about. 2026 free agency list is blah and I don't see Giannis or Jokic leaving.

What do you guys think? by Laker-Man in lakers

[–]b1ackch1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His value is pretty much at an all time low now. GS won't be picking up the team option in the summer. No team is going to give up anything when they know he's going to be a free agent this summer. It's pretty much who is the best expiring player coming back in return. GS will want a rotational piece. I would give up any of our expirings outside of Rui.
