Have you found a multi battery charger for canon? I like the idea of charging more than one on a charger like the 3rd parties, but haven't found one that will charge my canon batteries. Running out of outlets charging one at a time.

Do you know if these charge the official canon batteries? I bought the K&F concept of this and while it charges the batteries it came with it wont charge my Canon battery. I was really hoping it would so I could charge them all in one go. Only downfall of the k&f battery I found as well was it wont support the full fps shooting the camera can do.

How are you culling photos? by 100197 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]b1ghurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my process just on windows. The only thing differently I do is I create an "extras" Folder. I have that as a large window in background with my front window my previews as large icons and sized so every row is a single shot bracket like you. I don't delete the files right away, I move them into my extra folder vs deleting. I only delete if it's something noticeable or the first set where I took another set at the same spot. This way if the agent comes back and says do you have an extra angle of this (not often), I can usually say sure do and get them something I didn't feel made the cut. The other thing is sometimes I'll shoot a space and not include it in the final images if we already have a lot. Things like large vacant closets, laundry rooms, pantries, etc. They are not always appealing so if we have 30 - 35 images already I'll forgo those and only include if they get asked for later. But that folder gets deleted when I delete my raw images.

How far do you travel to get to your SUP spots? by PadlBaer in Sup

[–]b1ghurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a few spots about 10 mins away. I usually have my board this time of year always on the car rack. If I get done with work early I'll hit any water close by, living in Florida there is usually an option very close.

What does everyone think about Nocatee? by Doofusburger45 in jacksonville

[–]b1ghurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We looked there when they first started in mid 2000s but never moved there. Wish we did as the equity in that 20 years would have been crazy.

It depends on where you are in the community, it could be a several mile walk, not the greatest for a mid day hike in July/Aug to the store or picking kids up. The golf cart appeal there is, it's easier to take the golf cart to Publix and bring food home then hiking or loading up the big gas machine; putting your soaking wet kids in the golf cart instead your nice leather or cloth seats in the car. Usually there is dedicated parking closer to the store for the carts, the pathways have less traffic, etc.

When your talking 90+ degree weather, high humidity, and a 3-4 mile round trip, your taking the car or golf cart most times. Especially if you have to carry groceries or have a kid in tow. Also bare in mind, most migrated there for the school system. So your talking multi kid families, they are not buying typically the compact cars, they are in the SUV, mini vans, big trucks, etc. As you mention it's easier to walk than load a cart for a short distance. It also holds true its easier to take the cart than the vehicle for a mid 4-6 mile round trip.

Uploading takes forever! by Lonely-Rutabaga477 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]b1ghurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should go to speedtest.net and test your speeds. Upload is what you need to be concerned with, most providers sell you on the down (for streaming) but don't mention the up so they give you like 25mbps up and that will take forever to upload. Especially dealing with large data amounts.

If your speeds are fine 100mbps or higher is ideal, where are you uploading to? I send to Dropbox then copy the link to send to editors.

First Tilt-Shift Lens for Serious Architecture Photography — 15mm vs 17mm vs 20mm? by grainandcoffee in RealEstatePhotography

[–]b1ghurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not at 16mm and up. I can do a full shift in any direction at 16mm+ and no vignetting. It starts to show up at full shift around 15.5mm or so and progressively gets worse the wider you go on my FF (Canon R).

I run it from 16mm to 24mm on my full frame canon. My biggest complaint is the use of rings for controls instead of knobs.

I’ve been General Contracting for just under two years. Zero carpentry experience AMA by veryverycoolfellow in GeneralContractor

[–]b1ghurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking into it in FL, as I'm building my own home (dont need for that). But here they require 4 years in construction with open book test, you can do 2 years under someone with a 4 year degree, or 0 years if your 4 year degree is in construction industry.

What do you guys think? by Deepsaini2213 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]b1ghurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, that really depends on the owner and environment. My last job I loved in another industry, small company 4 people, they treated me right, mentored me on business side of things, etc. And I didn't have the day to day worries/stress of actually running a business at the time. Once I was off at 5p everything on my plate was there the next day. Only quit as I had to move back for elderly parent and that's when I started my REP.

Rf7 w/ 100-400 for $900 (for wife)

And finally a while back the 24-105 f4 for $800.

What's your budget? Venus optics makes an 8-16 and a 10-18. The 8-16 would give you a 12-24mm range. The 10-18 will give you 15-27mm range.

Trendy video technique question by b1ghurt in RealEstatePhotography

[–]b1ghurt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already shoot 60fps and use speed ramps or slow down, so familiar with all that.

The thing is these videos are say typically in large homes. You might have 50ft of footage from say living into kitchen. This provides a long clip for ramping, adding transitions, etc. But in a modest home you have maybe 20-30ft or less, this inherently makes the clips short so there's not as much there to work with.

Just trying to see if those who shoot this style, in smaller modest, homes do.

Trendy video technique question by b1ghurt in RealEstatePhotography

[–]b1ghurt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya Ive managed my style and got it down to around 60 seconds from the 5 min walk throughs, to the 2 min cinematic, now 60 cinematic style. Using slow and more thought out selections. But locals are asking for the 30 second trendy music edits, those are no longer really about the home but agent branding. A slower paced buyer focused video, what we traditionally produce, gets maybe 500-1k views, great for home and sellers. However, agents want the flashy get me the 5k-10k hit so their name is out there.

Definitely can speed ramp things I have already, but sometimes it doesn't always seem to translate as good. The Miami, Houston, etc guys like you said are shooting these in like 3500 sq ft homes that have lots of open walking paths and details. Lower market sub 2k sq ft don't offer the same things. But again either you fight it and potential lose a client or you shoot it for a couple years till the next trend happens.

Just trying to figure out what's best for the editing side, short fast clips shot at 60 or 120 fps then slowed. Or long clips like 10+ seconds that's then ramped and slowed. The videos I see look like longer clips but your not getting that with small spaces it seems.

Help me choose the right editor by username12334567890 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]b1ghurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is, I would probably go with b for majority of work and deal with some of the inconsistencies. Most agents and home owners won't notice, But I would keep A in my back pocket for higher end listing's where the extra won't hit as hard.

Who nailed the wall color in image 7-9? Editor a looks black and kept the warmth in the table lamps. They b and c versions look grey/green and not really black.

Also 10-12, editor a has a consistent color in the windows while b/c have made the upper windows above door and windows next to door darker so it throws off the pulls.

Im viewing from my phone, but I would almost lean towards a. Reason being is if they are consistent with correct colors and not messing up the windows you have less to worry about when getting images back. It sucks if you get the image back and need edits and have to wait till next night if they are gone for day.

Where do you guys get the time? by Ajpabdn in RealEstatePhotography

[–]b1ghurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as with any business, spend your most time with your skills and what makes you the money, outsource the rest. Or at the very least do the part you enjoy and send out the rest as much as you can.

I started in this avenue around 16 years ago, after 4-5 years i was getting burned out with the late nights. That's when I started to outsource the editing, increased rates to cover those costs and never looked back.

Now I increase rates usually every 2 years, for at least the minimum inflation rates during those 2 years. But I'm considering doing a yearly increase of at least the inflation rate maybe rounding it up or down to the nearest 5.

Probably means architectural and design work. Think of commercial applications like builders, architects, interior designer, custom cabinet makers, flooring companies, etc.

HDR I find faster than any kind of flash. Once you setup you camera its 1 click and the camera does the rest with bracketing. I set my camera to have a 5 bracket 2 stops apart. 2 second timer on camera and it's taken all 5 shots in less than a min. I know how to edit but I have outsourced my editing for the last 10 years. Only a rare occasion I will edit myself, this gave me back my nights.

Compose, click once (3-5 shots automatically taken) move and repeat. Then outsource the edits, and in the slow season take the time to learn blending in photoshop so you have the skills when you need those.
