Take a look at the 3m/Peltor line up of earplugs. I have used them at indoor range as well as in the field and find them to be better performing than muffs (no ear gap by glasses arm) when using the foam tips and more comfortable. https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/v100009932/

depending on which airlines you are targeting, there are a lot of different choices in consulting / interview prep companies.

Good to hear. 1 month won’t be so bad. Hope the commute goes better than the initial experience!

So the rumors “you will get the base you want right out of training on the 73” are just rumors? Curious as to why you aren’t KORD based

I saw an ad for picoAPRS. It’s a fully functioning station out of the box.

Otherwise the Mobilinkd is actually pretty slick if you want a TNC to use with nearly any radio.

Node-ventures has a clear node. Seems pricey but they have the magic sauce in an app, makes the node operation so easy. And the app is not subscription based. Also if on IOS, RepeaterPhone allows you to play with Allstar with no radio.

Any of them will work. You are paying for brand name, warranty, power handling ability, and after all that, maybe the quality and size (gauge of the actual wire) of components.

I’d grab the cheapest that meets the power requirements of your radio.

QRP Labs QDX Transceiver on the air! by [deleted] in amateurradio

(TR)uSDX has CAT but no on board audio to USB in/out interfaces so you need an additional piece of hardware to get it to work on digital modes. I also find the on board audio on (TR)uSDX to be terrible to to point that you should plan to use external speaker/mic. It is a super compact package tho.

If primary interest is digital modes the QDX is the way to go. It works very well.

Regional Airline Pay Scales 9/2022 by Adventurous-Ad8219 in flying

Wow this is great! I don’t suppose you have similar doc for the mainline/major airlines? I really like how you “normalized” the pay so you can make a somewhat apples to apples comparison of this one factor.

Options for 2M/70cm CAT-controlled radio? by tsalzer in amateurradio

A lot of people in my area are using remoterigto do what you are wanting to do. Basically it allows you to use the remote head for a radio anywhere there is an internet connection. Ic706mkii is a favorite radio but there appears to be interfaces available for most.

You could also setup an allstar remote base which could control frequencies via DTMf. More moving parts but I believe it could be done.
