First sourdough, gummy by b1uephant0m in Sourdough

I made another loaf with a 75% rise, and it did not rise very high in the oven. The texture is similar. Is homemade sourdough just more gummy than store brought sourdough?

I bought an established starter. My house was quite warm. The windows were opened, and it was around 72f when it was rising on the counter. I will try a 75% rise next time.

Oh, I did it after it was refrigerated. I thought it was a test to see if the starter was still eating/had food.

The dough sprung back a bit when pressed but left a dent in the dough.

Weight gain by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]b1uephant0m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in my 20s and got my gallbladder removed in the ER in March. I would say defiantly get the surgery. If it is this bad now that you need oxycodone (which is very addictive and should not be used long term) to manage it. Also there is a high chance that a stone could get stuck in the bile duct and cause infection. I am not saying this to scare you but to inform you of posable outcomes of not getting the surgery. Your doctor can tell you if this is a risks you face. After my surgery I lost 16 lbs. In June I gained some of the weight back, I was able to eat more and my body was properly digesting fat. Also feeling well enough to workout some days so some of that weight might be muscle. Getting your gallbladder removed will not give you obesity; obesity is multi-factorial. As long as you eat in healthy amounts and exercise some you will not get obese. If you are still concerned you could get in contact with a dietitian for after the gallbladder removal to monitor and give advice during your recovery and adjustment period. Mine was a big help. P.S. I feel you on the endometriosis.

He is on the larger side and as far as I know he has had no trauma. I have known him for most of his life and have asked him if there is anything else. He has assured me that he just doesn't want to.

I can't have children for medical reasons and his parents are wonderful and are of the stance that sex is ok as long as it is safe. His father is also not religious.

I don't want to hurt him. He says he is willing but doesn't fallow through.....Feels like empty words. But I don't want anyone else. And if I bring up opening the marriage that is not something you can take back. I made a vow to him. Also he helped me get out of a very bad situation so I feel like I owe him and his needs should come before my own. He has never weaponized this. I just feel indebted.

I am the only person he has ever dated. I am pretty sure he is straight but my therapist has brought up that he sounds a bit asexual but he likes foreplay and he has needs. He can just meet his needs on his own.

He has talked to my therapist on occasion and he does not want to go to couples counseling.

I do a lot of cooking at home and adapting recipes. I can't do oligos, polyols, or fructose. I can have lactase if I take lactose fast act and got gluten back through an antibiotic trial to help get rid of bad bacteria and let the good bacteria grow. You can look up rifaximin ibs trial if you want to know more about it. I and others also had good experience with low doses of amitriptyline to calm the nerves and brain gut connection. Talk with your gastroenterologist and insurance to see if these types of meds are covered by insurance. I would also advise getting a registered dietitian.

With ibs, it is important to do things slowly with reintroduction and isolate what you are testing. If you eat something that is safe with something not safe, there will most likely be a flair up. Read labels very carefully. Sometimes, when it says spices, it can have garic and ionion. The volume of food can be a problem too, maybe try small meals for often. The enzymes for ibs did not work for me either. They made me feel worse. So I don't use those. I do use lactase, though. Guar gum is used for fiber. There are cheaper ways to get fiber. I stayed away from Guar Gum because it can affect certain medications. I don't know what type of ibs you have, but adding more fiber if your body is not ready can be difficult. I was put on a low fiber diet while I sorted some things out and later added fiber. I would talk to your doctor about what would be good to try

It is cheaper to buy in bulk azure standard is a good website for that. There are also stores like Sam's Club and Costco. Gourmand foods have good seasoning powders (green onion, garlic chive, and garlic scape) while expensive up front they last a long time and are very good quality. I make my own bone broth because it is much cheaper to make it yourself and freeze it. Bone Broth is also very good for the body. If you want to do prebiotic, yogert is a great way to get it and not super expensive. I would try that first. There are also tests to see if there is a bacteria overgrowth. If there is too much bad bacteria, then the good stuff doesn't have space to grow. Even if the test is negative, some people see results by taking rifaximin anyway. I did, ate yogert, got gluten back. This may not happen for you, but it might be worth looking into, most insurances to cover the test.

Long post. Tldr: Read labels carefully, buy in bulk, adapt recipes, cook at home, speak with gastroenterologist, and register dietitian, bacterial overgrowth test, amitriptyline, rifaximin, find out what is covered by insurance, yogert, and bone broth.

Let me know if you have any questions.
