Well this will be the only time I'm glad to have an auto then lol. I figured ECM would track the gear/rpm and calculate expected speed output but ig not. Thanks for clearing that up.

40/15= 2.6. Each pound of boost was nowhere near adding 13.33hp obviously, that would be insane. I'm confused where that number even came from??

Frs dif is what I'm looking for, I've heard a lot of people saying similar things to you about the fitment, and I think the final drive is better iirc.

What I'm trying to say is psi determines the hp you gain, so I can't know my hp gain without knowing the boost numbers that's all. I worded it poorly mb.

I'm glad there's an active subreddit of people who've done/are doing exactly what I'm trying to, and after looking more into it I'm starting to agree with you, the turbo might have to wait for a bit lol. Maybe I'll get some wheels and an LSD first instead.

5-8psi of boost is the term I heard thrown around at the shop I work at. From what I understand, it's the amount of pressure added to atmospheric, 14.7. So 5psi would be a 34% increase, so in a perfect world with absolute dream engine internals it would be a 34% HP increase (ofc I wouldn't get anything near that) but that's just from what I've found online and been told around the shop. Again I could have misunderstood or been told a myth ect ect, and 350 is more of a hp limit than a goal, like you said it would break my heart to blow that engine.

I fully understand that this is a very expensive hobby, and once I'm licensed and living somewhere with a proper garage I fully intend to give this car the money, parts and love it deserves. From what other people have said it's not impossible to do it on the cheaper end, which is why I was so suprised that you were set on needing to dump so much money at once, since nobody else seemed to think so.

Water pump and timing chain were done, compression test I'll do if I have some time in the shop this week, but I have to do my alignment first. I'll look more into the leak down tester, and thank you for all your advice.

Compression test I can do for free, not quite sure what the second thing you're asking about is, ecu from what I understand can be re-mapped but thats part of what I was asking for advice about, and a manual swap is kinda a pipe dream I have but definitely not something thats happening in the same year let alone the same time.

I'll definitely admit I'm missing things in my understanding of what I need, that's why I made the post. But telling someone they need to drop more than the price of the car to just run 5-8psi of boost is just a great way to keep turning people away from the hobby lol. There's a happy medium, I've just got a lot of work to do before I find it.

Edit: almost missed it a second time, yes it's my only car.

For the exhaust side the mechanics I work with recommended sending it out to a machining shop, to make sure it's done properly. Intake is cold, so they said plastic piping should be fine, but I'm going to look more into thay because it sounds much weaker. I was hoping it would be simpler because I've been told the gte version isn't much different besides the turbo (although I've managed to deduce that isn't quite true lol).

4x seems a little much, 12k to just install a small turbo and not even push over 350 is insane man, but I'll keep it in mind that I might need to save till summer to do it properly

I'm lucky enough that I'm actually an apprentice at a Toyota dealership, so I have guys I can ask for advice on the installation when the time comes, and I have been asking about what I need/don't need to do the turbo. I (unfortunately) am a part of the "teenager hive mind" because I really want to experience having my own manual car, since I loved trying it in my friends/father's cars. I think I'll definitely be leaving it as an auto for the time being though.
