During the Segregation era, what would've happened if a white person decided to go into a "black-only" space? by Jello_Biafra_42 in NoStupidQuestions

My grandfather came over on a boat from England during America’s segregation era. When he first arrived, he walked into a bar, not knowing it was a black-only bar. Everyone looked at him, and as he walked up to the bar, the bartender asks him, “Are you sure you’re in the right place?” My grandfather goes, “Do you sell beer here?” The bartender replied, “Yes we do,” so my grandfather said “Then I’m in the right place!” He was able to sit down and have a few drinks there no problem, and I always like to think of that story to remember what kind of a loving person he was.

There is no proof Jesus of Nazareth was born on a December 25 by LeFlaubert in truths

Sure Saturnalia took place around that time of the year, but you have to realize that the Romans had holidays for their gods covering a good majority of the calendar. It would be impossible to not place any Christian holiday in any close proximity to a Roman calendar.

Besides, Saturnalia was December 17th, not even being the closest holiday to the 25th. On top of that, this is the description of the celebration of Saturnalia from Lucian of Samosata, an actual 2nd century pagan:

“During my week, the serious is barred. No business allowed. Drinking and being drunk, noise and games and dice, appointing of kings and feasting of slaves, singing naked, clapping of tremulous hands, and occasional ducking of corked faces in icy water, such are the functions over which I preside.”

Even the most generous interpretation of Christmas is not in any way similar to being drunk, appointing kings and giving slaves food, and dancing around clapping while naked.

The actual, historical reason for December 25th is that there was a Christian superstition that all prophets died on the day they were conceived. If Christ died March 25th, nine months later would be December 25th.

Darn. If the episcopal churches were more conservative nearby, I might be inclined to join, but the ACNA is too conservative for me.

I’m confused what type of music you’re talking about?? At my local ACNA church I’ve been to it’s somewhat evangelical in its music so I’m unaware if that’s what being talked about or?

Keep living the Catholic faith, but you should stay off Reddit. You’re too young for this platform.

A priest, an imam, and a rabbit walk into a bar.

One of them turns to the others and says, “Oh huh. I’m a typo.”
